Birdland Jazz Club has released its schedule for December 30-January 12. Performers include Marilyn Maye, John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey Duo, The Billy Stritch Trio, and more. 

Vocalist and composer Céline Rudolph glides between Berlin, São Paulo, Paris and New York, between tongues and genres, always landing in the very heart of music. Céline is beyond happy to return to New York to play the second time at Club Bonafide with spectacular musicians Helio Alves (p), Edward Perez (b) and Mauricio Zottarelli (dr).

Singer Mafalda Minnozzi and guitarist Paul Ricci have broken musical ground in Brazil and Italy in a long running collaboration resulting in her notable solo career. Over time the freedom of their musical empathy overshadowed the usual larger band format resulting in a duo with its own unique language derived from both their Jazz and European upbringings and their extensive touring. Collectively they have recorded or performed with Milton Nascimento, Leny Andrade, Astrud Gilberto, Harold Vick, Sonny Fortune, Manolo Badrena, Guinga, Bebel Gilberto, Toquinho, Hugo Fattoruso, Bobby Sanabria, Dom Um Romao, Andre Mehmari, Roy Haynes, Harry Belafonte, Mike Clark and so many others.

Performing music from Duke Ellington, Monk, Jobim, Mingus,Toninho Horta, Stanley Turrentine, Noel Rosa and much more music from the American and Brazilian song book.

The holidays are a special time at The Nash as the renowned jazz club sprinkles a dash of holiday themed concerts throughout the month, bringing classic jazz and hot Latin sounds to warm up the holiday month. Highlights include the arrival of one of the most renowned samba bands, direct from New York City, Duduka da Fonseca Trio w/ Maucha Adnet on December 9th. Both Duduka and Maucha worked closely with the iconic Antonio Carlos Jobin, the King of Bossa Nova.

Two of John Pizzarelli's greatest influences, Frank Sinatra and the bossa nova composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, joined forces in 1967 to present a softer, sultrier side of Sinatra on the heels of 'That's Life' and 'Strangers in the Night.'

The White Plains Performing Arts Center (WPPAC) is proud to announce an exciting Fall Season. All performances are at the White Plains theatre, located on the third level of City Center off Mamaroneck Avenue and Main Street in downtown White Plains.

You've probably heard a variation of this joke at a cabaret performance.  The performer will say something like "if you know the words, please don't sing along." Ann Hampton Callaway teasingly cajoles her audience to join in while she's singing a musically complex scat arrangement during her act.  When John Pizzarelli asked the The Carlyle audience to sing along as he and Daniel Jobim sang the nights closing number (Antonio Carlos Jobim's Aqua De beber), it wasn't funny.  The many Brazilians filling the seats in the Cafe  expertly chanted in Portuguese. Sometimes I find it difficult to handle the syncopated rhythms which accent the second beat of a measure in Bossa Nova, but this crowd didn't. 

Cafe Carlyle is pleased to welcome back guitarist John Pizzarelli, who just performed a sold-out, critically lauded show with wife Jessica Molaskey which TIME placed on their list of 2014's Ten Best Plays & Musicals. He will premiere Strictly Bossa Nova II, a new concert of bossa nova music featuring the Brazilian singer-songwriter and pianist Daniel Jobim, grandson of the seminal Antonio Carlos Jobim, tonight, April 21-May 2, 2015.

Cafe Carlyle is pleased to welcome back guitarist John Pizzarelli, who just performed a sold-out, critically lauded show with wife Jessica Molaskey which TIME placed on their list of 2014's Ten Best Plays & Musicals.

John Pizzarelli once again expertly switches (musical) hats at Cafe Carlyle with his new concert of bossa nova music. The evening is titled "Strictly Bossa Nova" and it features Daniel Jobim, grandson of the seminal Antonio Carlos Jobim and an ensemble of Brazilian musicians.
