The New Group announces additional casting for productions coming up in the company's 2016-2017 Season.

The Most Miserable Christmas Tree, a new fun-filled family holiday musical, will receive its World Premiere this December at Bay Ridge's Narrows Community Theater, celebrating its 45th Anniversary Season.

BAAD! The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance proudly presents Los Nutcrackers: A Christmas Carajo, written by Charles Rice-Gonzalez and directed by Luis Caballero. This marks the second year that the award-winning director of Off-Broadway hits La Lupe: My Life and My Destiny and DC-7 The Roberto Clemente Story steps in to helm the work. The play interweaves two holiday classics,The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol, and creates a queer, Latino play about a gay couple who go on a psychedelic trip through their lives one Christmas Eve. The play will be presented December 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 8pm; Saturday, December 10 at 3pm at BAAD!, 2474 Westchester Avenue in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx. The internationally acclaimed tale, Woody Sez: The Life & Music of Woody Guthrie, is coming to Seattle Repertory Theatre. Producers Scott Rudin and Barry Diller announced today that the most acclaimed, celebrated, and awarded American play in recent memory, The Humans, will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at its third New York home, the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, after its year-long, smash hit run on Broadway and fourteen weeks Off Broadway.

The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) has announced full casting for DirectorFest 2016: The 33rd Annual Directors Festival, an evening of four short plays staged by The Drama League Directors Project Fall Directing Fellows Candis C. Jones, James Dean Palmer, Jesca Prudencio, and Shaun Patrick Tubbs.

Celebrated performer and pianist Hershey Felder brings the remarkable story of beloved composer Irving Berlin to The Armory with his highly acclaimed solo-show, Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin. Portland audiences are familiar with Hershey Felder as the adaptor and director ofThe Pianist of Willesden Lane, which played to sold-out houses at The Armory last season and will return in June for a limited engagement. Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin is directed by Trevor Hay, who collaborated with Felder on The Pianist of Willesden Lane, along with a number of other works. Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin opens on the U.S. Bank Main Stage on December 2; preview performances begin November 30; and the production runs through December 30. 

Ford's Theatre Society presents its 35th-annual production of Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, November 17 to December 31, 2016. This "musically high-spirited" and "infectiously jolly" (The Washington Post) production is adapted by Michael Wilson, directed by Michael Baron and features Craig Wallace as Ebenezer Scrooge.

ABRAHAM'S DAUGHTERS, by Emma Goldman-Sherman, will receive a reprised staged reading as part of the 29th Street Playwrights Collective New Works Series on Monday, December 12, 7pm, at the Bernie Wohl Center.

Drama Desk Award-winning actress and singer Rachel York (Disaster!, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Victor/Victoria) embarks on a 10-city concert tour from December, 2016 through April, 2017 beginning with Michael Feinstein's American Songbook at NJPAC! December 1. York joins Feinstein, Andrea McArdle, Jared Grimes, and Youth Songbook Ambassador Julia Goodwin at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark for a cabaret and Q&A featuring favorite American standards. The program will be filmed before a live audience for future broadcast on NJTV, WNET, and WLIW21.

Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST), along with EST's Youngblood and EST's Sloan Project, have announced new EST/Sloan commissions and EST/Youngblood members & programming for the 2016-2017 season.

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) will present the world premiere of Associate Artistic Director Todd Salovey's newest play, 'The Dybbuk for Hannah and Sam's Wedding' as the third production of the theatre's 41st season. Written and directed by Salovey, the play is a one-man adaptation of the classic Jewish play 'The Dybbuk' by S. Ansky.

Long Wharf Theatre, under the director of Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and Managing Director Joshua Borenstein, present Other People's Money, by Jerry Sterner, directed by Marc Bruni from tonight, November 23, through December 18 on the Claire Tow Stage in the C. Newton Schenck Theatre.

A spectacular new production of Disney's The Little Mermaid kicks off at The 5th Avenue Theatre this holiday season. Featuring the critically acclaimed work of Director Glenn Casale, this beloved tale of a young mermaid's coming-of-age adventure is told like never before. Previously announced casting includes Seattle's own Diana Huey as Ariel and Matthew Kacergis as Prince Eric, with Broadway's Jennifer Allen as Ursula andSteven Blanchard as King Triton. Melvin Abston, Connor Russell and Jamie Torcellini join the cast as Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle. The 5th Avenue's production will go on to play engagements in cities including Orlando, Cincinnati,Atlanta and Louisville, among others.
