The digital release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Newsies has made debuted on the Billboard charts, landing at #1 on the Top Broadway Chart, #27 on the Top Digital Chart and #74 on the Billboard Top 200.

The Drama League has gathered together a team of Broadway's best to serve as Honorary Co-Chairs for the 78th Annual Drama League Awards set for Friday, May 18, 2012 at 12:00 p.m., at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway). The team of Broadway luminaries includes Nina Arianda, Christian Borle, Norbert Leo Butz, Kathleen Chalfant, Raul Esparza, Rosemary Harris, Jeremy Jordan, Christine Lahti, Linda Lavin, Norm Lewis, Judith Light, Audra McDonald, Cynthia Nixon, Denis O'Hare and Blair Underwood. The Honorary Co-Chairs serve as ambassadors for The Drama League Awards and the excellence of the New York theatre season, and welcome the attendees of the Awards Luncheon at a cocktail reception before the event.

Musical Theatre Guild, the winner of the Los Angles Drama Critic's Circle Margaret Harford Award for sustained excellence in the theatre, has announced an exciting quintet of shows to celebrate its seventeenth season of Broadway in Concert musicals.

The Menier Chocolate Factory will present Harvey Fierstein's acclaimed Torch Song Trilogy, 30th May to 12th August, starring David Bedella and Sara Kestelman and directed by actor/director Douglas Hodge.

Today in 2008, A Catered Affair opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre, where it ran for 116 performances. A Catered Affair is a musical with a book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by John Bucchino. It is based on both the 1956 film The Catered Affair written by Gore Vidal and the original 1955 teleplay by Paddy Chayefsky, set in 1953 in the Bronx. John Doyle directed the production, which starred Fierstein, Faith Prince and Tom Wopat.

Newsies, the new American musical, which is currently in performances at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St) was featured on ABC's 'Good Morning America' this morning, April 16. For the second installment in their series 'Cam's Cam-eo,' the 'Good Morning America' cameras were there as correspondent Cameron Mathison made a series of cameos in a recent performance of Newsies, after spending the day with the company learning how to be a newsie. Broadway In Chicago recently announced the complete 2012-2013 season, bringing old favorites, as well as new ones to Chicagoan theater-goers. Newsies opened March 29th, at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre for a limited run following its critically-hailed stint at Paper Mill Playhouse last fall. The musical, featuring a score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Harvey Fierstein, played its first Broadway preview on March 15th; the final performance is scheduled for August 19th. If I said that Newsies hasn't improved any since its premiere engagement at Paper Mill would you roll your eyes and mumble something about how haters are going to hate?

The Daily Mail UK reports that David Bedella will star as drag queen Arnold Beckoffin in Harvey Fierstein's new three-act play Torch Song Trilogy at the Menier Chocolate Factory in Southwark, London, beginning May 30. Douglas Hodge will direct. Sara Kestelman will play Arnold's mother.

Stage veteran Darren Criss may be through with his run in HOW TO SUCCEED, but that doesn't mean that he's done with Broadway. In a recent interview with Billboard, Criss revealed that he just made a trip to the Nederlander Theatre to see NEWSIES. Criss told Billboard: 'I'm a huge 'Newsies' fan, and I love that show. I wouldn't deign to think I could be in that show because I can't sing or dance like those kids. They put me to shame.'

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of NEWSIES is now available digitally today on Ghostlight Records.
