The new Broadway musical DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, based on Boris Pasternak's Nobel Prize-winning 20th-century epic Russian masterpiece, will star Tam Mutu making his Broadway debut as the passionate Doctor and poet Yurii Zhivago, Kelli Barrett (Wicked) as the alluring Lara Guishar, Tony Award nominee Tom Hewitt (Rocky Horror Show) as the cynical bourgeois magistrate Viktor Komarovsky, and Paul Nolan (Jesus Chris Superstar) as political radical Pasha Antipov. This year the organization honored Jules Fisher, Lynn Nottage, and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation at 583 Park Avenue in New York City. The performances included previews of two productions from TCG Member Theatres: A Walk on the Moon (New York Stage and Film) and Immediate Family (About Face Theatre, Center Theatre Group, and the Goodman Theatre). This past Saturday I continued my uncharacteristic tour of "scary" Halloween themed plays with Red Mountain Theatre Company's production of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Of course, this Mel Brooks musical is not really scary, but it is definitely fun and entertaining. I found myself laughing out loud many times. This is my kind of Halloween fun!
