Portland Center Stage invites Portland to return to the turn of a different century for Ragtime, the Tony-Award winning musical about the anarchist crusaders, death-defying magicians, race apologists and renegade musicians who fomented revolutions in the drawing rooms and fought injustice in the streets of an America that laid the groundwork for the America we live in today.

The anticipated new Broadway production of Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Tony Award® winning musical RAGTIME has announced complete casting of its 40 member company.

The anticipated Broadway arrival of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts new production of Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Tony Award® winning musical RAGTIME, based on the E.L. Doctorow novel and featuring direction and choreography by Marcia Milgrom Dodge, revealed its poster art. The dynamic work is designed by acclaimed Italian illustrator Lorenzo Petrantoni.

Tickets will go on sale this Saturday, August 15 for the anticipated Broadway arrival of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts new production of Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's Tony Award® winning musical RAGTIME, based on the E.L. The new musical Girls Vs Boys, a developmental production of the American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University (AMTP) and The House Theatre of Chicago, begins performances Friday, July 10, in the Hal and Martha Hyer Wallis Theater on Northwestern University's Evanston campus.

Bristol Riverside Theatre continues its 2009 Summer Season with the return of The Gustafsons, a renowned husband and wife magic team. The Gustafsons will perform the family-friendly Amazing World of Magic from June 30 ? July 5. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for BRT members, and $8 for students.

Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Terrence McNally's RAGTIME, which was a critically acclaimed sell out at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. now looks set to bring it's 'new music' to Broadway. While there is no official word or comment an Equity casting notice has been posted to Backstage for a Broadway/Production contract for RAGTIME. The notice states rehearsal and performance dates are to be announced. Equity principal auditions will be held June 22, 24 and 25 while Equity chorus calls are June 26 for dancers and June 23 for singers.

Three studio titles will change and one production will move to the Main Stage in a major revision of the Portland Center Stage 2009/2010 season. Early strong seller The Chosen will move to the Main Stage, replacing Joe Turner's Come and Gone (which will be deferred to future season). In the studio, a possible Broadway tour causes our production of Thurgood Marshall to be postponed, and The Best So Far will be put on hold to give it a bit more gestation (and New York fundraising) time.

Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Terrence McNally's RAGTIME, which is selling out at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. is looking to bring it's 'new music' to Broadway, reports The Washington Post. While there is no official word or comment, sources told the paper that there are reportedly 'serious negotiations for a move to Broadway.'

New Outstanding Production Extended to May 17, 2009

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced a one week extension for its production of RAGTIME. The musical will now run in the Eisenhower Theater April 18 through May 17, 2009. Based on a 1975 novel by E.L. Doctorow, the production features book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and will be directed and choreographed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge. The musical is part of the Kennedy Center?s Broadway: The Third Generation, a series celebrating the current generation of Broadway musical composers. The official press night will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.
