Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents the world premiere family musical The Adventures of Pinocchio from July 13 to August 28, 2011. Based on Carlo Collodi's classic tale of a wooden puppet who yearns to be a real boy, this original CST Family commission will turn CST's Courtyard Theater stage into a larger-than-life, European-style marionette theater. Created by multiple Drama Desk Award-nominated team Neil Bartram (music/lyrics) and Brian Hill (book), The Adventures of Pinocchio is directed by Rachel Rockwell, who returns to CST after staging last summer's world premiere CST Family musical The Emperor's New Clothes. Tickets for The Adventures of Pinocchio from July 13 to August 28, 2011, in CST's Courtyard Theater are $18-$25 with special discuonts available for groups of 10 or more. A fast-paced Tony-award-winning comedy BOEING-BOEING will be staged at the Saint Michael's Playhouse July 20-30 in the McCarthy Arts Center on the campus of Saint Michael's College.

The classic story of self-deception and the courage of a lone voice of reason returns to the SteppingStone stage. This production is based on the beloved Hans Christian Andersen tale, recently adapted and freshened by long-time SteppingStone collaborator David Simmons.

The Center for Puppetry Arts presents a whimsical production of The Ugly Duckling from August 18 - September 18, 2011.

New York Stage and Film (Johanna Pfaelzer, Artistic Director; Mark Linn-Baker, Max Mayer, Leslie Urdang, Producing Directors) and Vassar College (Ed Cheetham, Producing Director) have announced the full line-up of their 2011 Powerhouse Theater season, now entering its 27th year. The result of a unique collaboration between New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, the program consists of an eight-week residency on the Vassar campus (124 Raymond Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY) during which more than 200 professional artists and some 40 apprentices live and work together to create new theater works. The 2011 Main Stage season kicks off with Patricia Wettig's F2M (June 29 - July 10).

Greenburger Mainstage on July 1, prior to its official press opening July 7. Joe Brancato, whose Off-Broadway credits include COBB, directs.

The Aerospace Players present 'Once Upon a Mattress' the family-friendly musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale 'The Princess and the Pea' with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm on July 22, 23, 29 and 30, with matinees at 2pm on Sunday, July 24 and Saturday, July 30 at the James Armstrong Theatre, located at 3330 Civic Center Drive in Torrance, CA 90503.
