Gavin Creel is set to perform his new cabaret, Back to New York at Birdland on Mondays, November 1, 8, and 15 at 7pm. Creel is returning from appearing in the West End production of Hair after appearing in the Broadway production last year. Creel has also appeared on Broadway in Thorougly Modern Millie.

The jazz world and The Hartt School lost a great musician and friend on Sunday, May 16, 2010, when the legendary Hank Jones passed away. Mr. Jones, an artistic collaborator with and personal friend of Hartt faculty members Steve Davis and Nat Reeves, presented a master class, performed a concert with Hartt faculty and students, and received an honorary degree from the University of Hartford on April 13, 2009. He died in New York City yesterday, at 91 years of age.

On Tuesday, April 20 the National Jazz Museum in Harlem (104 East 126th St.) will present 'The Joint is Jumpin': Fats Waller: The Organist' from 7 PM - 8:30 PM. The event will be free at the NJMH Visitors Center (Suite 2C).
