Renowned in the region for their productions of gay-themed works, Mauckingbird Theatre Company begins their 2014 season with a down-to-earth look at first love in their production of Beautiful Thing by English playwright Jonathan Harvey. The play, which was described as an "endearing, lopsided smile of a comedy about a boy who falls for the boy next door" by The New York Times, will run January 15 - February 2 in the Skybox at the Adrienne.

The Donmar Warehouse is preparing to transfer both of its critically acclaimed Conor McPherson productions, The Night Alive and The Weir, within the next two months. The Night Alive will make its American premiere at The Atlantic Theater off-Broadway on the 30 November 2013, with The Weir opening at Wyndham's Theatre in the West End on the 16 January 2014.

Theatre Development Fund's (TDF) fun and informative online theatre dictionary, at www.theatredictionary.org, is celebrating the year anniversary of its launch. During this first year the number of theatre terms more than doubled - from 20 to 43, all featuring unique videos as well as written definitions. To mark the occasion, TDF is premiering a new video defining the term 'Commedia dell'arte' starring RuPaul's Drag Race 5th Season winner JINKX MONSOON and MAJOR SCALES, her co-star in the hit NYC Stage production The Vaudevillians (currently at the Laurie Beechman Theatre through November 11).
Bristol Riverside Theatre continues its season with Jon Jory's adaptation of Pride & Prejudice in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's beloved novel. Theater 2020, Brooklyn Heights' professional theater company continues its outreach to the Brooklyn community with their FREE "Hearthside Reading Series." The September reading features two one act comedies, "The Thrice Three Muses" by Lynn Marie Macy & "Harold" by Theodore Herstand. The plays, which both present comic situations reflecting how people handle "maturing," will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2013 in the first floor theater room at the Brooklyn Heights branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, and feature professional actors from the company.
