Kimmel Center Partners with Marian Anderson Award for Future Ceremonies

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to announce its new partnership with the Marian Anderson Award in which future Award ceremony events and galas will be done in partnership with the Kimmel Center. The announcement comes after 15 years of the Award Concert being held in the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall and gala festivities on Commonwealth Plaza.

Jimmy Buffett Musical Will Debut at La Jolla Playhouse in 2017; Christopher Ashley to Direct

Producers Frank Marshall, Mindy Rich, Anita Waxman, and Beth Williams announced today that the new musical featuring the songs of legendary singer-songwriter-author Jimmy Buffett, with an original story by co-book writers Greg Garcia and Mike O'Malley, will have its world premiere at La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, California. Directed by Tony Award® nominee and Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley, the strictly limited engagement will kick off the Playhouse's 2017/2018 season, with performances beginning on May 16, 2017, an official opening night of May 28, and will play through June 25, 2017.
Tony Award nominee Christopher Ashley will direct the production, which will open on May 16, 2017.
Geva to Continue 43rd Season with TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

Geva Theatre Center presents Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird as part of the 2015-2016 ESL Wilson Stage Series. To Kill a Mockingbird is adapted by Christopher Sergel and directed by Mark Cuddy, with original music by Gregg Coffin. The production begins previews on February 16, opens on February 20 and runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage until March 20.
Cast, Creative Team Announced for La Jolla Playhouse's GUARDS AT THE TAJ

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for Guards at the Taj, the final production of the 2015/2016 season. Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), the show marks Associate Artistic Director Jaime Castañeda's directorial debut at the Playhouse. The production will run February 2 - 28, 2016 (press opening: Wednesday, February 10) in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. The MFA Musical Theatre Program at San Diego State University is once again teaming up with La Jolla Playhouse to develop a new musical, following up on their collaboration on the reading of BD Wong's new musical MR. DOCTOR last February. This year, after a competitive selection process, the musical ON THE EVE has been chosen for a public staged reading at SDSU tonight, November 19, 2015 at 6:30pm in the Experimental Theatre.
