Haven Theatre Company to Stage to Present DON'T GO GENTLE, 6/2-7/12

Breaking News: Jenn Colella, Chad Kimball, Rodney Hicks & More Set for New Musical COME FROM AWAY at La Jolla

This just in! La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for its season opener, the world-premiere musical Come from Away, featuring book, music and lyrics by the Canadian husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein (My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding), directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. A co-production with Seattle Repertory Theatre, Come from Away will run May 29 - July 5 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre (press opening Thursday, June 11).

World Premiere Musical MANN… AND WIFE to Open Lyric's Plaza Theatre's 2016 Season

MANN... AND WIFE, a new musical by Douglas J. Cohen and Dan Elish based on Elish's novel Nine Wives, will receive its world premiere at Lyric's Plaza Theatre in February of 2016. This musical will continue the new works initiative started in 2014 with TRIANGLE by Tom Mizer, Curtis Moore, and Joshua Scher and continuing in October 2015 with BERNICE BOBS HER HAIR by Adam Gwon and Julia Jordan.

Berkeley Rep Stages West Coast Premiere of HEAD OF PASSES, Now thru 5/24

Berkeley Repertory Theatre proudly welcomes MacArthur 'Genius' Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney for the West Coast premiere of Head of Passes, a poignant and poetic story about the journey of family and faith, trial and tribulation. In a dilapidated house near the ever-shifting mouth of the Mississippi, Shelah's family gathers on a stormy night for her birthday -- bringing ghosts and secrets of the past with them. As her roof buckles under the weight of the rain, Shelah's convictions begin to wash away, leaving her to excavate the truths buried below. Directed by Tina Landau, the riveting Head of Passes comes to the Bay Area straight from its critically lauded world premiere in Chicago. Head of Passes is a co-production with the Public Theater in New York. It begins previews on Berkeley Rep's intimate Thrust Stage today, April 10, opens today, April 17, and runs through Sunday, May 24, 2015. Goodspeed's 2015 Johnny Mercer Writers Colony to Showcase Works at 54 Below, 4/27

54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presents the 2015 Johnny Mercer Writers Colony Concert, featuring the works of Colony participants Peter Cincotti and Pia Cincotti (The Last Laugh), Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop), Jean Rohe (The Odysseus Agreement), and Patrick Lundquist & Peter Seibert (Puccini). The Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF) and Goodspeed Musicals are proud to co-produce the first New York City showcase of musicals developed at this one of a kind program.

Debra Messing & More to be Honored by Trinity Rep

At the 19th annual Pell Awards, Trinity Rep will award Debra Messing with the Pell Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts. John Chan, jazz promoter and owner of Chan's Fine Oriental Dining in Woonsocket will be honored with a Rhode Island Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts. Dancer and choreographer Julie Strandberg will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts and Trinity Rep's former executive director, Michael Gennaro, will be awarded with the Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts. The ceremony will be held Monday, June 15, 2015 at Trinity Rep with a reception to follow at the Providence Public Library.

MTI Acquires Rights to Pasek & Paul's JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH

Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach, featuring a score by Tony-nominated songwriters Justin Paul and Benj Pasek and a book by Timothy Allen McDonald, has been acquired for licensing in the TYA, student and community theater markets by Music Theatre International (MTI). The musical is based on the beloved best-selling book of the same name by Roald Dahl.

World Premiere of THE ANGELS OF MONS Set for FRIGID NY, Now thru 4/4

FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade will present March Forth Productions World Premiere of The Angels of Mons, a historical drama by Eric Webb, directed and conceived by Laura Archer. The production will run tonight, March 26-April 4 at UNDER St. Marks.

KC Rep to Stage World Premiere of STICKY TRAPS, 4/24-5/24

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 50th anniversary season with Sticky Traps, a powerful new play by KC Rep's Playwright in Residence, Nathan Louis Jackson, Directed by Resident Director, Kyle Hatley. Sticky Traps focuses on a small town not far from Kansas City, where a mother protects her gay son's honor when his funeral is protested by a local church. Her actions have unintended consequences that will test her whole family - and the power of their love -- in the face of hate. The production begins Friday, April 24th and runs through Sunday, May 24th at Copaken Stage in downtown Kansas City.
