The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey concludes its 49th season with Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, adapted for the stage by Neil Bartlett.

Conceived and directed by Tommy Tune and written by Mark Saltzman, FIFTY FOUR FOREVER, will receive its world premiere at The University of Miami's Jerry Herman Ring Theatre, from November 9 to 19. The associate director and choreographer of the production will be David Warren Gibson.

The Drama Desk and the Fordham University Theatre Program will present a special panel discussion on Sunday, November 13th at 6:30pm at Fordham University's Lincoln Center campus (Pope Auditorium, 113 West 60th Street). The discussion, titled 'Anatomy of a Breakout,' will reflect on the remarkable trend of breakthrough productions and breakout performances on the New York stage in 2011.

At the gala 43rd Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, November 7, 'The Madness of George III,' from Chicago Shakespeare Theater, took top honors for a play in the Large Theatre tier with a total of 5 awards, including Production - Play, Director Penny Metropulos and Principal Actor Harry Groener. In musical categories for large theatres, the Goodman Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company production of 'Candide' won top awards for a musical with 5 statues, including Production - Musical, New Adaptation for Mary Zimmerman, Principal Actor Geoff Packard and Supporting Actress and Actor, Hollis Resnik and Larry Yando. The revisionist team of Director Charles Newell and Music Director Doug Peck of Court Theatre claimed directing honors for large musicals with their new look at 'The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess.'

THE PEARL THEATRE COMPANY (J.R. Sullivan, Artistic Director) has announced the company for Shakespeare's drama, RICHARD II. The production, beginning November 8 at New York City Center Stage II, will be directed by J.R. Sullivan and features Sean McNall as Richard II. The twelve member cast features both members of The Resident Acting Company and guest artists who will portray over 30 characters.

Writers' Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma, continues its 20th Anniversary Season with The Caretaker by Harold Pinter, directed by Ron OJ Parson.

Best known for writing the book for Broadway's In the Heights, winner of four Tony awards including for Best Musical, Hudes will give a talk and answer questions from the audience at City Tech. In the Heights also earned her the Lucille Lortel Award and the Outer Critics Circle Award. She has been called "one of the most important playwrights of her generation" (Atlanta Journal Constitution) with "a confident and arresting voice" (The New York Times).
