Jason C. Tramm Conducts the Adelphi Orchestra's 'Celebrating a Grand Legacy' Today

Jason C. Tramm leads the Adelphi Orchestra and guest soloist, violinist Christine Kwak in the Adelphi Orchestra's season finale concert 'Celebrating a Grand Legacy' today, June 9th at New York's Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center. The concert will feature a program of beloved audience favorites: Mendelssohn's Overture to the Hebrides, Tchaikovsky's Concerto for Violin in D Major and Beethoven's Symphony No 5 in C Minor.

The Adelphi Orchestra to Welcome Guest Soloist Christine Kwak for Season Finale Concert at Merkin Concert Hall, 6/9

?The Adelphi Orchestra's concludes its 2015-16 season with its New York City Concert Series' finale 'Celebrating a Grand Legacy', Thursday June 9th at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center. The performance will include Mendelssohn's Overture to the Hebrides, Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C Minor and Tchaikovsky's Concerto for Violin in D Major, with featured violin soloist Christine Kwak under the baton of conductor Jason C. Tramm.

Opera Saratoga Sets 2016 Summer Festival Program

Lawrence Edelson, Artistic and General Director of Opera Saratoga, announced the program for the 2016 Summer Festival, which will run from May 28 through July 17, 2016. The season will feature three new productions at The Spa Little Theater in Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, New York, along with a diverse slate of recitals and concerts at multiple locations in Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls, and Albany.

Bassist William Langlie-Miletich Wins 31st Annual Klein Competition

The first prize of the 31st Annual Irving M. Klein International String Competition, carrying a purse of $13,000, has been awarded to 19-year-old bassist  William Langlie-Miletich, the first-ever bassist to be awarded the top prize. The Competition Finals were held the evening of Friday, June 3 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and included four competitors advancing from the Semifinals the previous day, an original group of nine. Langlie-Miletich's winning program for the final round included select movements of J.S. Bach's Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007, Johannes Brahms' Sonata No. 1, Op. 38, and Giovanni Bottesini's Double Bass Concerto No. 2 in B Minor. The second prize goes to cellist Coleman Itzkoff, third prize goes to violinist Alina Kobialka, and fourth prize goes to violinist Evin Blomberg.

New York City Opera to Present FLORENCIA EN EL AMAZONAS, 6/22-26

New York City Opera concludes its 2016 season with the New York premiere of Florencia en el Amazonas by Daniel Cata?n. Performances are June 22, 23, 25, and 26 in Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall. New York City Opera inaugurates O?pera en Espan?ol, a landmark initiative of productions of opera in the Spanish language, Baroque to the contemporary, from Spain and Latin America, as well as zarzuela. O?pera en Espan?ol introduces the opera-loving public to a neglected but significant repertoire and aims to expand City Opera's reach to new and Spanish-speaking audiences.

Brian Cole Named Dean of UNCSA's School of Music

University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) Chancellor Lindsay Bierman has announced that Brian Cole, currently Dean of Academic Affairs at the Valencia, Spain, campus of Berklee College of Music, will be the next Dean of the UNCSA School of Music, effective Aug. 1.
