Opera San Jose to Present Puccini's LA RONDINE

La rondine will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. Runtime is approximately 2.5 hours. Opera San Jos presents six performances of this opera, opening in San Jos 's California Theatre on November 11, 2017, closing November 26, 2017. The California Theatre is at 345 S. First Street in downtown San Jos .

Reg Rogers-Led AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE Begins Tonight at Yale Rep

Yale Repertory Theatre opens its 2017-18 season with An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen, newly translated from the Norwegian by Paul Walsh, directed by James Bundy, tonight, October 6, through October 28 at Yale University Theatre (222 York Street). Opening Night is Thursday, October 12.

TURANDOT Returns to the Met Conducted by Carlo Rizzi

Franco Zeffirelli's staging of Puccini's final opera Turandot returns to the Met from October 12 for an initial ten performances through to November 16 starring soprano Oksana Dyka in the title role and tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko as Cal f. Led by Carlo Rizzi, performances also feature soprano Maria Agresta as Li with bass-baritone James Morris as Timur.

Now, modern scholars tend to exonerate Lucrezia from being the diabolical poisoner that her enemies have portrayed for 400 years. But let's face it, that diabolical Lucrezia makes much better opera. Donizetti knew that, as shown in his 1833 opera about her. Victor Hugo displayed the same sensibility in his hyper-melodramatic tragedy which appeared in the same year. In this new opera, Borgia Infami, Lucrezia is tainted with those same old sins - a little incest and the poisoning of a whole dinner party - including (inadvertantly) her own beloved bastard son.

New Screenplay of GOD OF VENGEANCE to Receive Reading Tonight

Acclaimed filmmaker and MoMA artist Andrew Repasky McElhinney was recently commissioned by New Yiddish Rep to create a new screen adaptation of Sholem Asch's 1907 drama GOD OF VENGEANCE. An invitational reading of the new screenplay is set for this evening (Sunday) at 6PM at the Workmen's Circle (247 W. 37 St.) The reading will feature the entire cast of New Yiddish Rep's recent hit revival of the controversial Yiddish play, which scored a New York Times Critics' Pick.

Opera Orlando to Launch 2017-18 Season with Puccini's LA BOHEME

Opera Orlando has chosen Boh me to open their 2017-2018 main-stage season-Love Lost and Found-on November 15, 17, and 18 at 7:30 p.m. and November 19 at 2 p.m. in the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., Orlando, Florida.
