The Little OPERA Theatre Of NY Presents PAST AND PRESENT: SCENES FROM AMERICAN OPERAS

The little OPERA theatre of ny will present a FREE concert of scenes from American operas in collaboration with Bronx Opera and operamission. The concert will showcase the diversity of music and stories written for the opera stage by both native born and immigrant composers and librettists. The concert will take place outdoors on Governors Island in Nolan Park, in front of building 25. The performance is at 5pm and is FREE to the public. (Rain date: Sunday, June 23 at 4pm.)

Opera Kelowna Announces Enchanting 2019 Season

Opera Kelowna announces its magnificent 2019 Season, featuring an exciting collaboration with Mission Hill Family Estate Winery to present performances amidst the vineyards; a Christmas Classic; alfresco community concerts, and more. The spectacular season will take place from June–November 2019, providing audiences with the opportunity to enjoy performances of treasured arias from well-known operas in venues and public spaces throughout the Okanagan.

Portland Opera Announces 2019/20 Season

Portland Opera is pleased to announce programming for the company's 56th season, which will open on October 25, 2019. The season will launch with one of the most powerful operas of all time, Puccini's Madama Butterfly, starring internationally acclaimed soprano Hiromi Omura in the title role. In February, the company will present An American Quartet: Four One-Act Operas in an intimate evening in the Hampton Opera Center's black box theatre. These one-acts feature Gian Carlo Menotti's The Telephone, Samuel Barber's A Hand of Bridge, Douglas Moore's Gallantry, and Lee Hoiby's Bon Appetit! The season will continue with a rare presentation of Vivaldi's opera Bajazet in March, which will be a special collaboration with the Portland Baroque Orchestra. In the spring, Portland Opera will present its annual Big Night concert and Leoncavallo's verismo masterpiece, Pagliacci. The 2019/20 season will close with the Portland Opera premiere of Jake Heggie's familial drama, Three Decembers.  

Theatre Of Yugen Presents RESONANCE III

In this solo concert, RESONANCE III, Miki Orihara will be dancing Martha Graham's 'Lamentation (1930)', Doris Humphrey's 'Two Ecstatic Themes (1931)', Seiko Takata's work 'Mother (1938)' Konami Ishii's 'Moon Desert (early 1930's)' and Yuriko's 'Cry (1963)'.

Following a season of change and transition, Calgary Opera announced a fresh and innovative line-up of productions, programs and packages that will form their 2019-20 season today. This season, the company's 48th, includes three main stage opera productions at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and a series of smaller performances at other venues across the city.

Opera in the Heights (OH), the opera company that provides a stage for emerging performers and affordable opera to the Greater Houston Area, will present its most daring season yet with its 2019-20 lineup. The company's 24th season will open October 5, 2019, with Puccini's iconic opera Tosca, and feature a total of six operas in a total of 21 performances.

From Luis Bravo, the Tony-nominated creator of Forever Tango - "an Argentinian-tasting menu of music, moves, mystery and mucho sensuality" (New York Daily News) - comes this new production. The Argentinean musicians, true masters of the bandoneon, join some of the finest Tango dancers in the world to tell the story of the art of Tango. Born in Buenos Aires in the late 1800's, it was popularized in the brothels as a dance of loneliness, passion and lust. Now an art form known around the world, few stage it with the theatrical flair of Bravo. It's the perfect evening of dance for Valentine's Day.

Neal Goren Joins Forces With Peak Performances To Launch New Company Catapult Opera

Peak Performances today announces a groundbreaking venture with Catapult Opera, the new chamber opera company led by Neal Goren, the internationally acclaimed former artistic director of Gotham Chamber Opera. This ongoing collaboration will launch in Fall 2020 with the world premiere of Robert Wilson's staging of Gian Carlo Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, conducted by Goren, and will include the development and premiere of two Catapult productions each season at Peak Performances' home, the Alexander Kasser Theater at Montclair State University (1 Normal Ave, Montclair, NJ 07043).

Annenberg Center Live And NextMove Dance Present The Martha Graham Dance Company

Annenberg Center Live and NextMove Dance present the Martha Graham Dance Company in the EVE Project, Friday, January 25 (8 PM) and Saturday, January 26 (2 PM and 7 PM). The EVE Project commemorates the upcoming centennial of the 19th Amendment (which extended the right to vote to American women) with works by all female choreographers, staying true to Graham's tradition of social activism. The program features the Philadelphia premiere of Graham's powerful Chronicle; the first preview performance of Deo, a new work by celebrated choreographers Maxine Doyle and Bobbi Jene Smith, Graham's Diversion of Angels, and Ekstasis by Graham, reimagined by Virginie Mecene. VIDEO: Get A First Look At On Site Opera's AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS

On Site Opera (OSO) will present Gian Carlo Menotti's holiday opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors, at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen December 6-8, 2018. In partnership with Breaking Ground, New York City's largest provider of permanent supportive housing for the homeless, performances will feature a chorus made up of community members who have experienced homelessness. Tickets will be free, part of OSO's “Opera Free For All” initiative.

The Giulio Gari Foundation Annouces Benefit And Winners

The Giulio Gari Foundation, whose mission is to discover and encourage young classical singers, will hold its annual benefit gala on Sunday, October 21 at the New York Athletic Club. A concert begins at 3 p.m., and will be followed by dinner.

Encompass New Opera Theatre Announces Cast For World Premiere Of ANNA CHRISTIE

Encompass New Opera Theatre will present the world premiere of Anna Christie with music by Edward Thomas set to a libretto by Joseph Masteroff, beginning on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 8pm, running through Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (at 55 Lexington Avenue, entrance on 25th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues).
