American Masters celebrates 'The Hi De Ho Man's' career and legacy during Black History Month with the new documentary CAB CALLOWAY: SKETCHES premiering nationally Monday, February 27 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) on PBS (check local listings). In the New York metro-area the film airs Sunday, February 26 at 8 p.m. on THIRTEEN.

This new musical features a veritable hit parade of iconic George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin songs as well as some unknown gems in their catalog. Check out the theatre, decked out with the titles of the featured songs and more, below!

Today in 1942, the first revival of Porgy and Bess opened at the Majestic Theatre, where it ran for 286 performances. First performed in 1935, with music by George Gershwin, libretto by DuBose Heyward, and lyrics by Ira Gershwin and DuBose Heyward, it was based on DuBose Heyward's novel Porgy and subsequent play of the same title, which he co-wrote with his wife Dorothy Heyward. All three works deal with African-American life in the fictitious Catfish Row in Charleston, South Carolina, in the early 1920s. Originally conceived by George Gershwin as an 'American folk opera', Porgy and Bess premiered in New York in the fall of 1935 and featured an entire cast of classically trained African-American singers-a daring artistic choice at the time.

New York Festival of Song will mark its seventh annual co-presentation with Juilliard and its ongoing collaboration with Juilliard choreographer/dance instructor Jeanne Slater with a program titled INVITATION TO THE DANCE to be performed on Wednesday, January 18 at 8:00PM in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater at Juilliard.

As part of "A Moment in Time" Series, The Capitol Center Orchestra, under the direction of Clayton J. Poole, will pay tribute to Paul Whiteman the "King of Jazz" on Sunday January 15th at 4pm at the Capitol Center for the Arts. Full casting is confirmed and tickets are now on sale to the general public for the new musical comedy NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, featuring music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin.
