This Australian production of Rumpelstiltskin wanders as far from the original tale as Germany is from Down Under (and some might say the same with regard to its distance traditional theatre) - but that's all good.

Using Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack's 1933 cinema classic 'King Kong' as the inspiration for a musical theatre piece really isn't such a bad idea. Among the film's notable achievements is the extraordinary dramatic underscoring music by Max Steiner, that supplied the title character's tragic death plunge from atop the Empire State Building with the kind of heartbreaking emotion that would make any operatic tenor jealous.

Honoring the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and the beginning of the Weimar Republic (1918-2018)   International chanteuse Adrienne Haan will be featured in a Joseph Barry Production, Voluptuous Weimar-A Tribute to Berlin's Golden Age.  Haan's performance celebrates the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I and the beginning of the Weimar Republic with musical selections that characterize Berlin during the 1920's and early 30's as a time of change.  The program under the musical direction of  pianist Richard Danley includes Spoliansky's, It's All a Swindle, Hollaender's Falling in Love Again, Berlin's Puttin' on the Ritz and Porter's Night and Day. Ms. Haan will perform with the Grammy-award winning 1920's Big Band, Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks.

Por primera vez en México se musicalizará en vivo la película Metrópolis (1927), de Fritz Lang, cuya partitura de esta versión fue compuesta por el argentino Martín Matalon. El Ensamble del Centro de Experimentación y Producción de Música Contemporánea (Cepromusic), bajo la dirección de José Luis Castillo, será el encargado de ofrecer el concierto, el cual estará acompañado por la proyección del filme.

USA Network's MR. ROBOT to End with Season Four

On Sunday, March 25th, the United Palace of Cultural Arts will present a multisensory screening of Fritz Lang's legendary silent film, 'Metropolis' (1927), an expressionist epic that was among the first feature-length science fiction films. Award-winning flutist and composer Yael Acher "KAT" Modiano will bring the classic to life with her own electro-acoustic score - which she creates entirely with flute and special effects. She brings her talents to the United Palace following performances at Lincoln Center, The High Line, Jewish Heritage Museum and more.
