New York Live Arts & FIAF to Present Ivana Müller's WE ARE STILL WATCHING & PARTITUUR, 9/30-10/5

New York Live Arts presents Ivana Muller's We Are Still Watching and Partituur, September 30-October 5, 2014, in the Third Floor Studios at New York Live Arts. Co-presented with the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF)'s Crossing the Line festival 2014, Muller, known for her imaginative, "lucid approach" (The New York Times), returns to the Live Arts theater for the first time since the 2008 Dance Theater Workshop performances of While We Were Holding It Together (also presented in partnership with FIAF's Crossing the Line festival), to deliver these two diverse productions.

FIAF Announces 2014 Crossing the Line Festival, 9/8-10/20

The French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, today announces the full program for Crossing the Line 2014, the eighth annual edition of its celebrated fall arts festival, presenting interdisciplinary works and performances by artists from around the world. Crossing the Line runs from September 8 through October 20 in venues throughout New York City. Nespresso returns as Presenting Sponsor of Crossing the Line in 2014. Tickets will go on sale in late July.

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century Presents BEETHOVEN LOVE ELEGIES, Now thru 8/3

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century (ERC) returns to Lenox, Massachusetts, for the second consecutive summer, with 12 performances of the fully staged theatrical concert, Beethoven Love Elegies. With a script drawn from Beethoven's letters and diaries and accounts by his contemporaries, interwoven with performances of some of his greatest music, this poignant, humorous, and emotionally intense production dramatizes Beethoven's young years in Vienna and his search for the perfect wife. Actor Kire Tosevski as Beethoven heads an outstanding company of five esteemed actors and four musicians (violinist Rachel Lee Priday, cellist Sebastian Bäverstam, pianist Eve Wolf, and baritone Chad Sloane).

Fresh off its recent Tchaikovsky production at BAM Fisher, the Ensemble of the Romantic Century (ERC) presents another fully staged theatrical concert interweaving drama and music about one of the most famous trials of the 19th century. Delivered by a top-caliber cast in an intimate setting, The Trial of Oscar Wilde focuses on the tragic shackling, public scrutiny, and subsequent imprisonment of the homosexual playwright/writer Oscar Wilde (1854-1900). A script based on Wilde's correspondence, plays, and short stories (performed by Broadway's Michael Halling as Oscar Wilde and esteemed Robert Ian Mackenzie as Lord Queensbury) provides a dramatic backdrop for chamber music by French and English composers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries including Chausson's masterful Concerto for violin, piano and string quartet, and works by Satie, Elgar, Faure and Franck in performances by the dynamic Amphion String Quartet, violinist Susie Park, pianist Max Barros and a romping barbershop quartet.

Nicolas Bouchaud Stars in THE EXERCISE WAS BENEFICIAL, SIR at FIAF Today

The French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, is thrilled to welcome renowned French stage actor Nicolas Bouchaud for the U.S. premiere of The Exercise Was Beneficial, Sir (La Loi du marcheur) directed by Eric Didry tonight, May 21 and Thursday, May 22 in FIAF's Florence Gould Hall. The performance is presented in conjunction with a special CineSalon series at FIAF celebrating the Cahiers du Cinema in May and June.

Celebrating its 13th season, the Ensemble of the Romantic Century (ERC) presents Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart at The Fishman Space in the new BAM Fisher. A fully staged theatrical concert blending striking music, powerful language and biography, Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart delves into the unconventional 16-year long relationship between one of the great composers of the 19th century and his patroness, Madame von Meck. Written by Eve Wolf and directed by Donald T. Sanders, this evening-length production seamlessly interweaves a dramatic script performed by actor Simon Fortin (Tchaikovsky) and actress Ariel Bock (Madame von Meck) of Shakespeare & Company with live chamber and vocal music performed by violinist Rachel Lee Priday, cellist Adrian Daurov, pianist Eve Wolf and tenor Blake Friedman. Featuring some of Tchaikovsky's epic pieces including Piano Trio in A Minor, Tchaikovsky: None But the Lonely Heart represents some of the composer's balletic works through dance both choreographed and performed by American Ballet Theatre dancer Daniel Mantei.

The French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, and The French Theatrical Foundation (FTF) are thrilled to present the New York premiere of Les correspondances de Marie-Antoinette, a one-woman show starring Moliere Award-winning actress Barbara Schulz and directed by Katherine Adamov, tonight, October 24 at 8pmat FIAF's Florence Gould Hall.

Soho Rep Extends MARIE ANTOINETTE Through 11/24

In response to popular demand, Soho Rep. announces a second extension of the New York premiere of David Adjmi's award-winning Marie Antoinette, directed by Rebecca Taichman, to November 24. Marie Antoinette brings Marin Ireland back to the theater where she won immense acclaim in Sarah Kane's Blasted. A previously announced performance on Sunday, Nov 17 at 7:30pm has been cancelled while a performance on Sunday, Nov 17 at 3pm has been added.
