National Youth Theatre Sets 2015 Season

Paul Roseby, artistic director of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT) has today announced a new season of work for the company including the world premiere of site-specific Homegrown - a response to recent events at Bethnal Green Academy and two brand new shows at the Arcola.

Steely Dan to Play The Beacon Theatre in October

Steely Dan will be offering their New York fans an opportunity to hear the band's three decade plus record catalogue when Walter Becker and Donald Fagen take to The Beacon Theatre stage for an eight night residency starting October 6, 2015. The band has previously performed historic multi-night stands at The Beacon in 2009, 2011 and 2013, staging complete performance of several of their classic albums in their entirety along with “Popular Demand” and “Greatest Hits” evenings.

Showbiz411 writes that CARSON - THE MUSICAL creator Henry Bushkin won a lawsuit today brought by Bruce Singer, Sharon Stone's brother-in-law, who had claimed he was owed money from sales of Bushkin's book about Johnny Carson and The Tonight Show. Showbiz also reports that Bushkin's CARSON - THE MUSICAL, based on his book about the late-night host, is getting ready for a workshop in September.

The Other Theatre Company to Present BENT, 6/27 - 7/26

The Other Theatre Company and Artistic Director Carin Silkaitis have announced the company's second production in its inaugural season, Bent, written by Martin Sherman and directed by Keira Fromm, at Strawdog Theatre, 3829 N. Broadway, June 27 - July 26. Preview performances are June 27 at 4 and 8 p.m. Opening/Press night is Wednesday, July 1 at 8 p.m. The regular performance schedule is Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m. (no show Thursday, July 9) Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. Preview tickets are $20 with the regular run tickets $25 and may be purchased at www.buzzonstage.com/theatres/other-theatre-company. 4th Atlanta One-Minute Play Festival Set for 6/8-9

Blue Note Records Exec Bruce Lundvall Dies at 79

Bruce Lundvall, former CEO of Blue Note Records who signed artists such as Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, Natalie Cole and Norah Jones, passed away today, May 19, 2015, due to complications from a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 79.
