Shakespeare Theatre Company to Celebrate Free For All's 25th Anniversary This Fall

One of the capital's most beloved annual traditions, the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) Free For All, and one of William Shakespeare's most beloved plays, A Midsummer Night's Dream, are coming together for a major milestone: Free For All's 25th anniversary. Ethan McSweeny directs a revival of his 2012-2013 STC production, which will run September 1-13 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).

DENNY DIAS, Founding Member of Iconic Pop/Rock Group STEELY DAN, Performs Four Shows at IRIDIUM This Week

Do you remember classic pop/rock songs of the 1970s such as 'Do It Again,' 'My Old School,' and 'Reeling In the Years?' If those tunes are swirling around in your head it's because they were big hits of the period by the iconic rock group Steely Dan. The founding member of that great band, guitarist extraordinaire Denny Dias, will take the stage at New York's popular jazz club IRIDIUM this week, August 6 and 7 for Denny Dias & Friends, a show that will celebrate the music of Steely Dan and showcase a few of his Denny's original songs. Joining Denny will be two special guests: Celebrated pianist/composer/music director Yaron Gershovsky and popular singer Lisa Jason as the show's lead vocalist. Performances of Denny Dias & Friends will be at 8 pm and 10 pm each night. UK's LORD OF THE FLIES Announces Full Casting & Tour Dates

Casting and full tour dates are announced today for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's critically acclaimed production of William Golding's Lord of the Flies, which will return following its 2011 sell-out premiere for a limited run from Thursday 3 to Saturday 12 September 2015 prior to a major UK tour.

Nine Performers Depart UK's DUSTY Amidst Backstage Drama

Dusty, a multi-media show celebrating the musical icon Dusty Springfield, is currently playing at London's Charing Cross Theatre, and according to the Stage, the show is experiencing some drama both on and offstage. The musical, which was originally slated to have a press night on June 3, has been in previews since May 25. In the coming weeks, five actors will have left the production due to 'unrest' and 'unhappiness.' An additional four dancers have been altogether removed from the production. 

KING LIZ, Starring Karen Pittman, Extends at Second Stage Uptown

Second Stage Theatre 2015 Uptown Series' acclaimed production of KING LIZ has been extended by one week and will now play through Saturday, August 15.  Written by Fernanda Coppel (Chimichangas and Zoloft) and directed by Lisa Peterson, KING LIZ features MICHAEL CULLEN, JEREMIE HARRIS, RUSSELL G. JONES, CAROLINE LAGERFELT, IRENE SOFIA LUCIO and KAREN PITTMAN. 

Actor's Express Extends RENT

Actor's Express is extending its production of Jonathan Larson's Rent for a second time through August 22, 2015. Since opening on July 10, Rent has played to sold out houses and rave reviews from audiences and local publications.
