Playwright Kenneth Cavander's found the ideal collaborator in The Antaeus Company for finessing his original two night's worth of performances into its current smartly-written, easily comprehensible, two-and-a-half hour narrative.
Metamorphoses is less of a play than it is a dreamlike series of theatrical vignettes adapted from the mythology canon of Ovid's epic poem of the same name. Though the segments are connected by little more than the thematic act of transformation, the fluid physicality of Ensembles' production creates a motif of movement that links each piece together seamlessly. Much of the intense emotionality is portrayed through an impressive litany of dance-based movement (choreographed by Michael Jenkinson) rather than traditional action, which cements the surreal quality of the performance.

MainStreet Theatre Company has announced the first production of its 2013/2014 season, Aesop in Rancho Cucamonga, a world premiere play by Luis Alfaro and directed by Robert Castro. Now in its eighth season, MainStreet Theatre Company commissioned this adaptation of Aesop's Fables with a generous grant from the James Irvine Foundation. The production, which is also supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, will play two school performances on October 25 and open to the public on Saturday, October 26 at 4pm. The strictly limited engagement will run through Sunday, November 10 only.

Two soldiers Specialist Charles Graner - named Chuck Shepard (James Black) in the play and his fiance Lynndie England - here named Pvt. Lyndsay Skinner (Kate Morgan Chadwick) were convicted in courts martial, imprisoned and dishonorably discharged for torture, abuse, and sexual crimes including rape of Iraqi prisoners.
