The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents following events in the month of November:

Producer David Youse and Four Things Productions in association with L.A. Works has just announced a celebrity staged reading in celebration of The 25th Anniversary of Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias to take place on Monday, 3 December 2012 at 7pm to benefit The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This special one night only event will take place at the Lucille Lortel Theater located at 121 Christopher Street in New York City, where the original production performed. Directed by Judith Ivey and starring Blythe Danner, Annie Potts as M'Lynn, the original Truvy, Margo Martindale as Ouiser, Celia Keenan-Bolger as Shelby and Sarah Stiles as Annelle. Additional cast announced soon! Music for this production has been generously donated by Bonnie Raitt and Pat Boone. With support from the 25th Anniversary Honorary Committee including Olympia Dukakis, Sally Field, Daryl Hannah, Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts and sponsored by Lifetime Television, Magnolia Bakery and Veranda Restaurant. A VIP reception with the cast and crew will follow this special performance.

Lemon, a new documentary about the acclaimed New York poet/playwright Lemon Andersen, will have its broadcast premiere on PBS as part of Latino Public Broadcasting's arts and culture series VOCES tonight, October 19, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET (check local listings), in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month. Produced and directed by Laura Brownson and Beth Levison, Lemon is a Russell Simmons presentation in association with Impact Partners.

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre, in association with Castillo Theatre, will present Sowa's Red Gravy by Diane Richards at Castillo Theatre (543 West 42nd Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues.). Gordon Bahary, New York-based singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer, has been making music for more than three decades. Now is he releasing his debut album. Unbreakable (Lasting Treasure), available digitally online as of Aug. 28th and in an exclusive deluxe version with three bonus tracks at Barnes & Noble (retail and online) on the same date, with CDs to follow, is the culmination of a lifetime's worth of creativity and innovation. Bahary will embark next month on his first-ever series of live performances, beginning in the Northeast. His first confirmed appearance is scheduled for the Barnes & Noble store in the Palisades Center in West Nyack, New York, September 13 at 6:30 p.m. The Barnes & Noble edition of the album, available at all of Bahary's appearances, will feature bonus tracks unavailable elsewhere.

Since reuniting in 1991, the band (now a quintet) has toured hundreds of cities and countries worldwide and continuously reach new audiences with their stellar string of classics, all easily dubbed "Good Time Music." This chart-topping group, which was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, features three of the original band members-Steve Boone, Joe Butler and Jerry Yester- together with Mike Arturi and Phil Smith. They close out the Spencer Theater's summer season with an evening of good time music tonight, September 1 at 8 p.m.

Profiles Theatre announces the Midwest premiere of Sweet and Sad by Richard Nelson, opening the company's 2012-2013 season. Sweet and Sad, directed by Joe Jahraus and featuring Co-Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox, runs tonight, August 17, 2012 - October 7, 2012 with the press opening on Friday, August 24 at 8:00 pm. Performances are held at Profiles newest venue, The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway.
