Marin County will celebrate the 2017 Marin County Fair Let The Funshine In! from June 30 to July 4, 2017.  The Marin County Fair: Let the Funshine In celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love emphasizing Marin's dedication to the things we value most in our community, Family, Art, Agriculture and the Environment. In 1967, the Summer of Love kicked-off with a two-day concert on Mt. Tamalpais called the Fantasy Fair and Magic Mountain Music Festival. Nearly 100,000 young people converged on the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, turning the Bay Area into the epicenter of a cultural phenomenon known as the Summer of Love. During this transformative time, music, fashion, art and new ideas flourished and there was a feeling that everything was possible.

SHARE, INC., the 64 year-old philanthropic organization dedicated to raising funds for developmentally disabled, abused and neglected children as well as medical research, hosted its annual Boomtown gala, "Let's Dance" tonight, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills.  The evening honored inspirational dance philanthropist Glorya Kaufman with the "Shining Spirit Award."

The evening honors inspirational dance philanthropist and founder of the USC Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center, Glorya Kaufman.

He founded one of the most popular singing groups of the proverbial rock era, The 5th Dimension. Their Grammy-winning, uplifting anthems for a generation, 'Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In' and 'Up-Up and Away' brought soothing yet exhilarating harmony during the turbulent times of the late '60's.

'Up, Up and Away' is not only the signature tune of the Fifth Dimension but it expressed the overall uplifting feeling Saturday night when the group made a rare Los Angeles concert appearance at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. Their positive energy made the entire audience want to fly right along with them as they soared through a thrilling 90 minute odyssey of their hits as well as a bevy of Motown pop standards and other great tunes from the past. It was indeed a walk down memory lane, a dandy one, with gorgeous Florence LaRue, one the original founders of the Fifth Dimension, and her current partners Willie Williams, Patrice Morris, Leonard Tucker and Floyd Smith. Every one just oozed personality, charm, warmth and pizzaz and are still in super dynamic vocal form. LaRue sounds every bit as good as she did back in 1965 when the group started out, with an incredible range and sultry delivery that will not quit.

Stoneham Theatre is "jazzing up" January with three concerts: The Jay Geils Jazz & Blues Revue, Florence LaRue & the 5th Dimension, and Loretta LaRoche's new show, Life Is Not A Stress Rehearsal. This exciting line-up has something for everyone and gives audiences a chance to experience well-known acts up-close and personal in Stoneham Theatre's intimate, theatrical setting.

The SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre turns 29 years old this year and will celebrate with a 2013 summer season under the stars packed with concerts, musicals, outdoor movies and the 8th Annual Celebrity vocal competition. All performances will begin at 8 p.m.
