The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) continues its sixth season of the Irish Rep Reading Series, with a free reading of JOHN STEINBECK'S THE PASTURES OF HEAVEN -- Octavio Solis's adaptation of the novelist's collection of short stories, first published in 1932 -- on Friday, October 26 at 3 p.m. at the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street).
Soulographie: Our Genocides, a cycle of 17 plays ranging in length from 20 minutes to two hours, all by Erik Ehn, each theatrically exploring the causes, effects, and various forms that genocide has taken in the 20th century, will be presented by La MaMa at the Ellen Stewart Theater, November 11-18. Over 80 theater artists from across the globe will participate.

Sloan Foundation Initiative commissions for Manhattan Theatre Club. This year's six commissioned writers are April de Angelis (Jumpy), Nick Jones (The Coward), Heidi Schreck (Creature), Melissa Ross (Thinner Than Water), Sarah Treem (A Feminine Ending), and Bess Wohl (Barcelona).

Heather Ehlers, long-time stage actress, will return to New York City with her solo work, SPIN, for two Encore performances at the 2012 United Solo Theatre Festival. SPIN played to sold out houses last year in Los Angeles and New York City. Performances are November 9 & 12 at 9:00pm.

Creative team includes playwright Erik Ehn (The Saint Plays, Maria Kizito), director John Moletress (2011 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre as co-founder of Factory 449; 2012 Mayor's Arts Award finalist), set designer Collin Ranney (2012 Helen Hayes Award nominee), lighting designer Ariel J. Benjamin, Movement/Choreographer Ilana Faye Silverstein and sound designer Derek Knoderer. On September 22, following force/collision's 8:00pm performance of the world premiere of Shape by Erik Ehn, there will be a talkback featuring the playwright (Maria Kizito, The Saint Plays), Daphne Brooks ("Bodies in Dissent: Spectacular Performances of Race and Freedom"), Randy Gener (American Theatre Magazine, Critical Stages) and John Moletress (Founding Director, force/collision). The discussion will begin approximately at 9:10pm in the Sprenger Theatre at Atlas Performing Arts Center located at 1333 H Street NE in Washington, D.C. The audience will have a chance to ask questions of the panelists regarding the production of Shape and their work. Come meet Mystical Abyss animator and CG (computer graphic) designer, Taketo Kobayashi in this one-time demonstration of his artistic process. Learn about the world of 3D animation and the ancient Japanese Jomon designs that inspire Kobayashi and his creations.

A selection of six abstract works by Brown University's head of playwrighting, Erik Ehn, A Child's Drawing of a Monster will open at Moe's Taxi, 26-15 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City (one block from Court Square subway stop on the 7, E, G and M lines), tonight, July 12, with additional shows on July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 21. Performance times are 8 PM Wednesday through Saturdays and Sunday at 7 PM. Tickets are $18 USD.
