The Hive Theatre Company Presents AN AMERICAN FAMILY TAKES A LOVER

The Hive Theatre Company is pleased to present The Hive Exposed Series; staged readings of new and underexposed plays. The second in this series is a benefit staged reading of Amina Henry's AN AMERICAN FAMILY TAKES A LOVER at the cell theatre on Tuesday, December 14th at 7pm.

The Public's MEASURE FOR MEASURE Begins Previews 12/6

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) in association with Ten Thousand Things Theater will begin previews Monday, December 6 for The Mobile Shakespeare Unit's production of MEASURE FOR MEASURE.

Provocative New Play on Animals on Trial Comes to John Jay Theater, Nov. 29 & 30

A multitude of the most curious chapters from 500+ years of animal trials will take center stage in late November at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College with excerpts from 'The Tragical-Comical Trial Trial of Madame P and Other 4-Legged and Winged Creatures,' a multi-media phantasmagoria-in-progress by award-winning playwright Susan Yankowitz. The play is widely interdisciplinary, engaging themes of animal rights and law, criminal justice, philosophy and ethics. The concluding event of John Jay's annual Art of Justice Series, it will be presented on Monday and Tuesday, November 29 and 30 at 7:00pm. The Gerald W. Lynch Theater is located at John Jay College, 899 Tenth Avenue, NYC. Tickets are $10 (free for CUNY students with valid ID) and may be purchased by calling Ticket Central at 212-279-4200 or visiting www.ticketcentral.com.

Cole Escola to Perform at Joe's Pub, 1/28-29

Cole Escola, acclaimed for his inspired musical performances in Joe's Pub's recurring smash Our Hit Parade and Casserole Live, the live performance component of his hit television series, Jeffery & Cole Casserole, makes his eagerly anticipated solo debut. With Cole's broad showmanship and sweetheart charm, his act will hearken back to a time when the great ladies of stage and screen dazzled the crowds in smoky rooms all over town. An exciting bill of standards, showtunes, Motown and original material brought to life by Cole's decidedly fresh perspective and raw energy under the direction of Ben Rimalower (Leslie Kritzer is Patti LuPone at Les Mouches) and featuring a band led by Bistro Award-winner Ray Fellman. Cole Escola premieres at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street) on Friday and Saturday, January 28th and 29th at 11:30 PM.

Bryggman, McGrath And More Lead ATC's THE COLLECTION & A KIND OF ALASKA

Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) is proud to announce that Atlantic Theater Company members Larry Bryggman and Matt McGrath and guest artists Lisa Emery, Rebecca Henderson and Darren Pettie will star in its first main stage production of the 2010-2011 season, THE COLLECTION & A KIND OF ALASKA: TWO PLAYS BY HAROLD PINTER, directed by Atlantic founding member Karen Kohlhaas.

Theatricum Botanicum Presents BACKYARD FRUIT, 11/20-21

Theatricum's play development program, Botanicum Seedlings, continues to foster its relationship with local playwrights by producing its first ever festival of new short plays. The Fall (short) Playreading Festival features the works of emerging and award-winning writers based in the L.A. area, all of whom have been involved with Seedlings. A harvest of eight short plays based on the theme 'backyard fruit,' along with gourmet seasonal refreshments, The Fall (short) Playreading Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, November 20 & 21, at 2 pm.
