The Lark Play Development Center in collaboration with Mexico's National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) has announced the 2012 U.S./Mexico Playwright Exchange Program. For the seventh year, the Lark will host playwrights from Mexico and pair them with U.S. playwrights, actors, and directors for a ten day cultural exploration which establishes ongoing channels of communication between artists in both countries. This year's exchange is presented in partnership with Mexican Cultural Institute.
Huntington Theatre Company announces its 2012-2014 cohort of Huntington Playwriting Fellows: Lila Rose Kaplan, Walt McGough, and Lenelle Moise. This artistically diverse group of writers began their two-year residency in September. They follow in the footsteps of renowned past Huntington Fellows Lydia R. Diamond (Stick Fly), Rosanna Yamagiwa Alfaro (Before I Leave You), Kirsten Greenidge (The Luck of the Irish), Melinda Lopez (Sonia Flew), Ronan Noone (The Atheist, Brendan), and Ryan Landry (the upcoming "M") to name a few.
This month, Broadway's Matt Dickson (who just finished a run in Lincoln Center's War Horse and also appeared in all three parts of The Coast of Utopia) will direct the premiere of THE MAN-MADE ROCK, a dramatic comedy which will run from tonight, December 7-16 at the 4th Street Theatre.
Back by popular demand, WORKSHOP THEATER COMPANY is pleased to announce a special, limited engagement of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, adapted and performed by Greg Oliver Bodine and directed by Shana Solomon. Jack Gindi's new play, Best Friends, will have a staged reading at 2:00pm on Friday, November 16th at Theatre 54 inside Shetler Studios. David Glenn Armstrong directs this four-person contemporary comedy/drama which stars Josh Adam Davis, Sarah Nedwek, Graham Powell, and Leah Wagner.
The Flea Theater presents the World Premiere of THE VANDAL by Hamish Linklater. The play will star Holly Hunter, Zach Grenier and Noah Robbins, with direction by Jim Simpson, The Flea's founder and Artistic Director.
