TOKYO FISH STORY Begins at The Old Globe Today

Kimber Lee's drama tokyo fish story, directed by May Adrales, begins today, May 28 at The Old Globe. The production runs through June 26, 2016, in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Pan Asian Rep to Stage NO NO BOY in Washington D.C. & NYC in June

 Tisa Chang, Artistic Producing Director of PAN ASIAN REPERTORY THEATRE, announces for its 39thseason a special limited run of NO-NO BOY by Ken Narasaki, directed by Ron Nakahara, and based on the groundbreaking novel by John Okada. Set in the aftermath of WWII as Japanese Americans return to the West Coast and called "eloquent…elegant and searing" by LA Weekly, NO-NO BOY will run from June 18-19 at the Burke Theatre in Washington, DC (701 Pennsylvania Ave.); June 21-25, 2016 at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row in New York City (410 W. 42nd Street); and June 26 at Flushing Town Hall in Flushing, NY. Official opening in Washington DC will be June 18 at 7:00pm and in New York on June 21 at 7:30pm.

Rajiv Joseph's ARCHDUKE, 'SOMETHING WICKED' and More Set for TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2016 New Works Festival

Uncle Function to Play The Peoples Improv Theater, 5/21

Sketch group Uncle Function, a four time winner of UCB's Backyard Brawl, plays The Peoples Improv Theater on May 21st. The sketch team is comprised of 6 actors whose theatre and television credits include; The Awesome 80's Prom, Sense & Sensibility (Off Broadway/Bedlam), The Night Of (HBO), Unforgettable (A & E), and the new series, The Characters on Netflix. Theater J to Close Season with Ziegler's ANOTHER WAY HOME, 6/23-7/17

Theater J will bring playwright Anna Ziegler back to DC with the insightful, wry drama, Another Way Home, which plays June 23 through July 17, 2016. Another Way Home, directed by Shirley Serotsky, follows the Nadelman parents (Rick Foucheux and Naomi Jacobson) at summer camp visiting day which quickly turns into a family emergency. Their son Joey (Chris Stinson), is nowhere to be found and they are left wondering - where has he gone, why is their marriage lacking, and what might have happened if they had taken a different path. Join us as we transform Theater J into Camp Kickapoo and discover a little bit more about the strangers we all live with - our family.

Maximillian Singh Gill's DEBRIEFING to Premiere at FringeNYC

White Rabbit Productions and Ego Actus Theatre Company present the premiere of DEBRIEFING, a play by Maximillian Singh Gill, directed by Joan Kane, as part of the 2016 New York International Fringe Festival, August 12 - 28, 2016.

Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble Presents A PIECE OF MY HEART, Opening May 6

Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble (CDE) concludes its 15th season dedicated to the woman's voice, and its ongoing mission of "performance with a purpose," with Shirley Lauro's A Piece of My Heart, directed by CDE fellow Victoria Alvarez-Chacon, and described by the Association of Vietnam Veterans of America as "the most enduring play on Vietnam in the nation."  A Piece of My Heart follows tells the true experiences of six women working in Vietnam during wartime. The powerful accounts of these women - five nurses and one country western singer - take place before, during and after Vietnam, and each story concludes with a personal token left at the memorial wall in Washington. 

THE VELOCITY OF AUTUMN to Open in June at TheatreWorks

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley closes its 2015/2016 season with the explosive new dramatic comedy, The Velocity of Autumn. This tender-hearted play by Eric Coble centers on an elderly artist locked in a volatile showdown with her family over where she'll spend her remaining years. In a wry, spirited quest to 'not go gently' into a retirement home, Alexandra barricades herself in her brownstone with enough homemade Molotov cocktails to blow the entire block sky-high as she negotiates the terms of her future with a long-estranged son who has battles of his own. The Velocity of Autumn was declared 'Wickedly funny and wonderfully touching' by Broadway World and 'A tale that could resonate with a broad range of audiences as it touches on a sobering dilemma faced by families every day' by Variety. This production will be directed by Giovanna Sardelli with performances June 1-June 26 (press opening: June 4) at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St., Mountain View.
