Simon Hammerstein and Randy Weiner, founding partners of famed downtown hotspot The Box, today announced their newest venture, Purgatorio, a nightmare fantasyland in the heart of Times Square, created especially for Halloween season.

Purgatorio, a fantasyland especially for Halloween season, is where nightmare meets nightlife. Combining the energy and glamour of a world-class nightclub with the spectacle and illusion of the theater, Purgatorio will offer an interactive Halloween experience unlike anything seen before in New York nightlife.

Simon Hammerstein and Randy Weiner, founding partners of famed downtown hotspot The Box, are gearing up for the official opening night party for Purgatorio, their newest nightlife venture, on Monday, October 26. Red carpet arrivals begin at 9:30pm.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 17 at 11:00 PM at Purgatorio's tri-level space in the heart of Times Square (268 W. 47th Street). The earlier timeslots on Saturday, October 17 (7:00 PM, 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM) are still available for general sale and will not be affected by this private event.

Five-time Tony Award winning costume designer William Ivey Long will receive the 2009 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for theatrical costume design, and, for his achievements as both a costume and scenic designer, Bob Crowley (also a five-time Tony Award winner) will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards' special Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Lifetime Achievement in Theatrical Design.
