UnTheatre Co Partners With Planet Ant For TOO MUCH LIGHT MAKES THE BABY GO BLIND

UnTheatre Co makes Hamtramck its home for the last run of their first season, presenting Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind at Planet Ant, June 8th-23rd. Performances will run todays and Saturdays at 8pm and will take place at Planet Ant Black Box, located at 2357 Caniff St. in Hamtramck. There will be one late-night performance of crowd favorite the Durrty 30 on Saturday, June 16th at 11pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 plus the resulting number of the roll of a 6-sided die, or online for $21 with the resulting number of the roll of a 6-sided die being returned to you at the door. Black and Brown Theatre Brings Classic American Novel to the Stage

Black and Brown Theatre, a local professional theatre for artists of color, is excited to celebrate their second season theme: Classics in Color. On Saturday April 28th, 2018, Black and Brown Theatre will present the world premiere of their adaptation of Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter. The live stage play features local Metro-Detroit actors Tiffany Baxi, Jonathan Curry, Amy Choudhury-Martin, Maurizio Dominguez, Hugh Duneghy, Zariah Hunter, Carmel Inez, Marie Muhammed, Justino Solis, Ryan Stephens, and Dinah Tutien.

THE MITTEN LAB Announces Open Submissions For 2018 Residency

Matrix Teens and Black and Brown Theatre Partner for Bilingual ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Members of the Matrix Theatre Teen Company will perform with Black and Brown Theatre in Wonderland: La Ni a Perdida, a bilingual adaptation of the story of Alice in Wonderland running Thursday, October 26 through Sunday, October 29. Friday performance is8 pm; Saturday performances are 5 and 8 pm; and Sunday performance is at 5 pm. Doors open 30 minutes before each show, and there is no late seating.

Playwright Emilio Rodriguez intertwines the everyday language of teenagers with heightened poetry to capture the world of two young men in an LGBT homeless shelter. Francisco Garcia, who was handpicked to direct this play by executive director Jose Gonzalez, brings an experience of creating theatre about young people's issues to his work on Swimming While Drowning. Additionally, he brings his experience of living in Los Angeles, where the play is set. There, he often worked with youth similar to the characters in Swimming While Drowning. His passion for giving a voice to under-served youth becomes apparent as he takes some time between rehearsals at Milagro to share his thoughts on the world premiere of Swimming While Drowning:

For the past six years, Theatre Kalamazoo (TK) has been providing a platform for local playwrights to develop and share new plays with the community. Theatre Kalamazoo is proud to announce that the seventh annual Theatre Kalamazoo New Play Festival will be held February 3-4, 2017 at the Judy K. Jolliffe Theatre (formerly the Epic Theatre) in downtown Kalamazoo. Theatre Nova Adds Leadership Positions to Management Team for 2017

Theatre Nova, Ann Arbor's professional playwrights' theater, now finishing up its second year of operations, is proud to announce additions to its leadership team. Founding Artistic Director, Carla Milarch, will be joined by Diane Hill and David Wolber who will both serve as Producing Artistic Directors. These experienced administrators will join the existing Theatre Nova team of Daniel C. Walker, Becky Fox, and Emilio Rodriguez in their quest to establish the group as a major theatre destination. The new, expanded team is excited to help lead the organization forward and is preparing for a number of new and exciting developments including announcing a "Supra-Season," establishing a season subscription program, continuing to improve the facility, and announcing special partnerships in the community. Theatre Nova is making a name for hot-off-the-press new works, with plays such as the new musical "Irrational" by David Wells and R. MacKenzie Lewis, and local playwright Kim Carney's poignant new work, "Katherine," along with "Mr. Joy" by Daniel Beaty, all recent critical and box office hits.

In Southern California, future readings are scheduled at Theatre @ Boston Court (11/15), The Road Theatre and Sacred Fools (both on 12/5), and more to be announced.
