The Flea Theater presents Jeremy Bloom's production of LA BOHEME (SPOKEN), based on La bohème by Giacomo Puccini, adapted by Brian Rady, conceived and directed by Jeremy Bloom. LA BOHEME (SPOKEN) will play a 1-week limited engagement at The Flea Theater (41 White Street, New York, NY 10013). Performances begin Wednesday, March 10th through Saturday, March 13th.

The Flea Theater presents the World Premiere of GIRLS IN TROUBLE by playwright provocateur Jonathan Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds, whose previous controversial play, Pulitzer Prize finalist Stonewall Jackson's House, took on issues of racial victimization, now turns his attention to women's rights and abortion.

The Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation and The Flea Theater, with the assistance of Culture Ireland, are thrilled to announce the US premiere of the critically-acclaimed production of LITTLE GEM, written by Elaine Murphy, directed by Paul Meade and produced by the multi award winning Irish company, Gúna Nua, in association with Civic Theatre.

Historically, English adaptations of Aeschylus' 'Agamemnon' have rendered its ancient Greek poetry into proven English poetic forms. The results have been often good and occasionally brilliant. Yet the original Greek meters provide clues as to how a section of a play was performed (sung, spoken or spoken to musical accompaniment). This has prompted Alexander Harrington, a director known for his mastery of oratorical theater, to attempt something radical: approximating Aeschylus' actual, original poetic meters in a new translation. This intrepid idea has resulted in a script of surprisingly clear stage speech and unusual poetic quality. It will debut November 12 to 29, 2009 in La MaMa's large Annex Theater, performed by The Eleventh Hour Theatre Company.

Ellen Stewart, founder and artistic director of the East Village's La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, has long been deemed the heart and soul of the theatre space. Over the decades since opening La MaMa in 1961, she has been the main presence in the club and chief supporter of its artisits.
