by Nancy Grossman
- Oct 26, 2017
The Nora Theatre Company presents Lauren Gunderson's THE REVOLUTIONISTS, a play which loudly and proudly shows the contribution of four badass women to the story of the French Revolution. The play is set in 1793, but these themes echo too loudly in 2017, reminding us that women must persist to resist, to claim their due.

In 1916, no one knew the booming town of Treadwell-home to the largest gold mine in the world-was on the brink of its ultimate destruction. In one momentous year, as infrastructure crumbles, fires rage, and war looms, young engineer George Barnett arrives in the territory of Alaska with "guts and genius," not expecting to fall in love or carry the safety of the miners and the town on his shoulders. Treadwell Gold is written by Rachel Atkins and inspired by the book of historical nonfiction by Sheila Kelly. The play is based on real people and events. Treadwell Gold takes us to a time when science and engineering were looked to with faith that progress was always an option and engineering could always make our lives better. Treadwell Gold runs in limited engagement at Perseverance Theatre, June 22 - July 3.

by Nancy Grossman
- Feb 13, 2017
DON'T GIVE UP THE SHIP invokes gender-bending, magical realism, and a real-life war hero, but has trouble staying afloat when the narrative jumps back and forth between two centuries. A pair of good performances in the roles of well-drawn characters aren't enough to keep this ship on course.

by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold

The Theater at Monmouth brings its season of French themed plays to a mirthful close with Marc Camoletti's1960s jet-setting bedroom farce Boeing Boeing. The entirely predictable, but nonetheless hilarious comedy about a swinging Paris bachelor and his three stewardess fiances is performed with energy and elan by the excellent company of actors in a briskly paced staging by Dawn McAdams.
