As previously reported, previews will begin in March of 2012 in anticipation of an April 2012 opening and rehearsals begin in February of next year for the highly anticipated revival of EVITA, starring Ricky Martin and Elena Roger. The production is still in search of a 'Mistress' and will be holding open auditions (Equity and non Equity) on Friday, August 19, 2011.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's landmark musical EVITA opening on Broadway in the spring of 2012 at The Marquis Theatre, 1535 Broadway. SEt to star in the production are Ricky Martin (Che), Michael Cerveris (Juan Peron) and, in her Broadway debut, Olivier Award Winning Argentinean actress Elena Roger (Eva). Olivier Award winner Michael Grandage and Tony Award winner Rob Ashford will direct and choreograph, respectively. This is the first new Broadway production of the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical since it debuted on Broadway more than 30 years ago. Rehearsals are still just under a year away, but the casting work on the upcoming EVITA revival is heating up. Sources tell us that a number of Broadway's highest profile baritones will be auditioning for the show's creative team later this month, with a casting announcement expected shortly thereafter. We're told that almost every well-known baritone that you can think of (and then some!) have appointments to be seen by the creative team of the highly anticipated revival to potentially star opposite Ricky Martin and Elena Roger.
