Casa 0101 Theater and Mexica Films present 'Light In The Darkness,' a story of young gang member's journey from self-destruction to self-realization. Written by Victor Tamayo and directed and adapted by Ramon 'Monxi' Flores, the play will be presented at the new Casa 0101 Theater, 2102 E. First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA 90033. Pay What You Can Previews will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, September 4 and 5, 2013 at 8:00 p.m, followed by a four-week run on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 5:00 p.m., September 6 - 29, 2013. The Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of CHICAGO, the musical which holds the record as the third longest running show in Broadway history, will star Samantha Barks as Velma Kelly, Drew Carey as Amos Hart, Lucy Lawless as 'Mama' Morton, Stephen Moyer as Billy Flynn, and Ashlee Simpson as Roxie Hart. Performances will be presented at the new Casa 0101 Theater, 2102 E. First Street (at Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA 90033 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 5:00 p.m., with Discounted Previews, today, July 12 - 14, 2013, followed by a four-week run, July 19 - August 11, 2013. The play will be presented with subtitles in Spanish.

Casa 0101 Theater will present a new World Premiere play written by Josefina Lopez (of Silver Lake) entitled 'Hungry Woman,' based on an abridged adaptation of Lopez's novel, 'Hungry Woman in Paris,' to be presented in a Limited Run for four weeks from tonight, June 7 - 30, 2013 on the Main Stage at Casa 0101 Theater; 2102 E. First Street (at St. Louis Street); Boyle Heights, CA.

Originally on Broadway in 1951 Lerner & Lowe's Paint Your Wagon was one of their less successful shows, which chronologically came right before their mega-hit My Fair Lady. As with most Lerner & Lowe, it's the place and characters that Lerner had such a talent for depicting. In Paint Your Wagon it's the Old West circa 1852 during the days of the Gold Rush when men sought their dreams via the move west. David Rambo rewrote the book and presented a new version in 2004 at the Geffen and in 2007 in Salt Lake City - a totally revised, trimmed down and slicker rendition of the original, critiqued as harsh and cold, a downer, in spite of its beautiful music. The 1969 movie starring Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin, needless to say, was a bomb with a terrible script and bad rendition of the music due to the fact that none of the actors could sing. For her last hurrah, Marsha Moode, who is sadly forced to close Downey Civic Light Opera after 27 years, has chosen to dust off the original 1951 show, altering its ending for the better and presenting it with a wonderful cast led by the remarkable Richard Gould as Ben Rumson.

Three friends embark on a joyous journey of sisterhood, discovering their inner 'duende' through a flamenco class for middle-aged women. Heart Song, the newest comedy/drama from Stephen Sachs (Bakersfield Mist, Cyrano), opens at The Fountain Theatre on May 25with Shirley Jo Finney (In the Red and Brown Water) directing and choreography by internationally renowned flamenco dancer Maria 'Cha Cha' Bermudez. The Old Globe presents the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's quirky and tender comedy Be a Good Little Widow. Directed by Hal Brooks, Be a Good Little Widow is currently running through June 9, 2013 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Rubicon Theatre Company continues its 15th Anniversary Season with the return of Lonesome Traveler, a musical event that takes audiences on a journey down the rivers and streams of American Folk Music -- from the hills of Appalachia to the nightclubs of San Francisco and New York; from the 1920s to the 1960s. Written and directed by Rubicon's Artistic Director James O'Neil, with Musical Direction by Trevor Wheetman, Lonesome Traveler begins April 24 and continues through May 19 at Rubicon Theatre in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District. Due to overwhelming popularity, David Bertolino's new play THE DEEP THROAT SEX SCANDAL about the making of the famed, groundbreaking, 1970s pornographic film "Deep Throat" and the subsequent controversy surrounding the film, is extending its West Coast Premiere run at the Zephyr Theatre through Sunday, April 14 with performances on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 7 p.m.
