THE FIX-UP SHOW Returns To ACME Comedy Theatre

NOISES OFF Comes To A Noise Within 1/21-30, 2011

A Noise Within (ANW) reprises its hilarious and critically acclaimed production of the joyfully out-of control British farce NOISES OFF by MICHAEL FRAYN for ten performances from Friday, January 21 to Sunday, January 30, 2011.

A Noise Within Presents GREAT EXPECTATIONS, 10/30-12/19

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, revisits CHARLES DICKENS' thrilling GREAT EXPECTATIONS with the West Coast premiere of a powerful stage adaptation by Neil Bartlett opening Saturday, October 30 and closing Sunday, December 19, 2010 (previews begin Saturday, October 23). ANW Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors Julia Rodriguez-Elliott and Geoff Elliott co-direct this production - which features original music by noted composer Doug Newell - based on Dickens' masterful novel. Bartlett was also the adaptor of A Noise Within's 2008-09 season favorite Oliver Twist. This marks the second time Rodriguez-Elliott and Elliott have co-directed Great Expectations at A Noise Within, the first produced during the 1995-96 season, winning numerous awards.

THE FIX UP SHOW Closes at ACME Comedy Theatre, 12/15

In this new weekly panel/matchmaking comedy show, host J. Keith van Straaten ('Beat The Geeks,' 'What's My Line? - Live On Stage') welcomes celebrity guests and real single Angelenos looking for love. Two strangers will be fixed up on a date, live on stage! Fresh from its hit run in New York City, where Celebrity guests included Dick Cavett, Jeff Garlin, Eve Plumb, and Aasif Mandvi, guests for this run will be announced shortly. Four of musical theater's brightest talents offer behind-the-scenes tales and the magical music of a true legend in Broadway Up Close and Personal: A Tribute to Cy Coleman. Beloved songs from Cy Coleman's award-winning shows including Sweet Charity, City of Angels and The Will Rogers Follies and songs such as 'Witchcraft' and 'The Best is Yet to Come' will be performed at the Orange County Performing Arts Center December 9 - 12 in this heartfelt and personal tribute to the life and incredible work of this great American artist. The show features Tony-winning lyricist David Zippel, who collaborated with Coleman on City of Angels; Center favorite Jason Graae, whose special way around a song has taken him to the Metropolitan Opera, the Hollywood Bowl, Birdland and the Rainbow Room; Jenifer Lewis, who has starred in numerous Broadway productions as well as movies and television and the multi-talented Tami Tappan Damiano, who has appeared on stages all over the world.

LYSISTRATA JONES Gets Off-Broadway Run in May 2011!

Transport Group (TG), the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and 2007 and 2010 OBIE Awards, has announced that it will present the New York premiere of Lysistrata Jones, a new musical by Douglas Carter Beane (Xanadu, Little Dog Laughed) and composer-lyricist Lewis Flinn (Divine Sister) on the basketball court of the Judson Memorial Church gymnasium. Dan Knechtges (Xanadu, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) will direct and choreograph. Previews begin May 2011 with an opening date to be announced.

ANW Presents Shakespeares's MEASURE FOR MEASURE, Closes 12/5

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed repertory theatre company, launches 2010-11 season, its 19th, with Shakespeare's stirring classic Measure for Measure directed by Michael Murray, which opens Saturday, September 25 and closes Sunday, December 5, 2010 (previews begin Saturday, September 18).

Drew Carey to Create Game Show for GSN

GSN (Game Show Network) announced today that the network has reached an agreement with comedy and game show star Drew Carey to create and host an original, primetime daily strip show for GSN. The new series is produced by Carey and Joe Roth, and will premiere in Spring 2011. The 40-episode show, as yet untitled, will feature a dynamic cast of Carey's talented actor-comedian friends, along with occasional surprise guest stars, who will create a lively, unpredictable and hilarious half-hour of improvised sketch comedy, complete with audience participation. The show will be shot in January and February at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, in front of live audiences.

Drew Carey Visits THE FIX UP SHOW

Drew Carey, host of 'The Price Is Right' on CBS, joined 'The Fix-Up Show with J. Keith van Straaten' as Celebrity Panelist at the ACME Comedy Theatre in Hollywood last night. The live-on-stage matchmaking show features a real single Angeleno being fixed up on a date by a panel of two people who know the single well, and one celebrity who's never met the person. 'The Fix-Up Show,' a genuine reality show performed exclusively for a theater audience, is produced and hosted by J. Keith van Straaten, with co-hostess Patti Goettlicher.

HAZEL Aiming for Broadway in 2011

One of the most beloved and enduring characters in the history of American popular culture is aiming to finally make her way to the Broadway stage. Hazel - the saucy maid whose wry attitude, infallible wisdom and heart of gold has captured the hearts of millions for more than 60 years - will be in the spotlight again in an exciting new Broadway musical with music by composer Ron Abel and lyrics by Chuck Steffan. The veteran duo has acquired the rights to Hazel from the estate of creator Ted Key and are hoping to bring the show to the Great White Way in 2011.

Sonnet Repertory Theatre announced their Ninth Annual BENEFIT & CABARET HONORING JACK O'BRIEN to be held Monday, November 8th at Joe's Pub, to be hosted by Jerry Mitchell with Musical Direction by Dan Lipton and featuring performances by John Behlmann, Kerry Butler, Michael Cerveris, Victor Garber, Ethan Hawke, Carly Jibson, Andrew Lippa, Duncan Sheik, Joe Allen Players.

Old Globe Presents ROBINS AND THE 7 HOODS, LAST ROMANCE, et. al. from July to October

The Old Globe announces their schedule for July through October. It includes the conclusion of the 2010 Shakespeare Festival, the world premiere of ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS, the west coast premiere of THE LAST ROMANCE and WELCOME TO ARROYO'S, and Neil Simon's plays, BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS and BROADWAY BOUND. There also will be several educational programs for children.
