With a host of summer offerings in Austin, here are the Austin Editorial staff's Top Seven Picks for summer theatre excitement:

Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise will boldly go where they have never gone before when STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN Director's Edition arrives for the first time ever on Blu-ray today from Paramount Home Media Distribution.

Director Michael Bay's remarkable 13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and On Demand June 7, 2016 from Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film arrives two weeks early on Digital HD May 24.

Called “the best looking fantasy series on TV” (IGN) and “damn fine television” (Collider), MTV's hit show THE SHANNARA CHONICLES Season One arrives on DVD June 7, 2016.

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Cara Reichel, Producing Artistic Director and Melissa Huber, Managing Director, in partnership with producer Alexander Baron, continues its 2016 IGNITE Series at The TimesCenter (242 W 41st Street), with a one-night concert of Vote For Me: A Musical Debate, by Drew Fornarola and Scott Elmegreen, authors of the recent Off-Broadway hit, Straight.  Vote For Me is an irreverent, 90-minute one-act musical that pits two fictional Presidential candidates against each other, singing their way through the three-ring circus of American politics and hot-button issues, with the outcome of the debate -- and finale of the show -- determined by audience vote.  The concert will take place on Saturday, June 25 at 8pm at The TimesCenter (242 West 41st Street, NYC).

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, took place just last week in Shubert Alley. Hosted by Tony nominee Sean Hayes and Mo Rocca, Broadway's best once again turned out for the annual performance - including Alan Mingo Jr., who performed 'Hold Me In Your Heart' from KINKY BOOTS.

The world premiere of GROUNDHOG DAY has been delayed because of the 'technical requirements' involved in the production.  Previews are now postponed until 15 July with an opening night of 16 August.

Last night, Jesse Eisenberg's THE SPOILS had its press night at Trafalgar Studios. His third play, The Spoils originally ran Off-Broadway in 2015 at The Pershing Square Signature Center. The London production stars Eisenberg, Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Katie Brayben (Beautiful - The Carole King Musical), Annapurna Sriram (Billions) and Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory), and plays until August 13. Golden Globe Award® winner Emily Blunt (“Into the Woods,” the upcoming “Girl on the Train”) and Emmy®, GRAMMY®, Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton,” “In the Heights”) are set to star in MARY POPPINS RETURNS, a sequel to the studio's 1964 classic, “Mary Poppins,” which will be released on December 25, 2018.

It is truly a pleasure seeing Shrek, The Musical. Based on the sure-to-be-classic DreamWorks Animation motion picture, the superb incarnation at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson boasts a truly remarkable cast.
