David Sedaris may well be the closest thing the literary world has these days to a rock star-his speaking engagements are now consistently standing-room-only, a far cry from his early days as a housecleaner in New York City. Sedaris made his comic debut recounting his strange-but-true experiences of his job as a Macy's elf clad in green tights, reading his 'SantaLand Diaries' on National Public Radio's Morning Edition. His sardonic wit and incisive social critique have since made him one of America's pre-eminent humor writers. The great skill with which Sedaris slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness proves that he is a master of satire and one of the most observant writers addressing the human condition today.
Singer and songwriter Tyler Hilton has launched a U.S. fall tour during which he will perform shows at high schools across the country during the day and club shows at night with his Warner Bros. Records labelmate Josiah Leming. The tour criss-crosses the country through November 17th.
As we continue on into October, along with all the Fall and Halloween decorations, a goodly number of our Central Coast theatres are offering a 'spooktacular' lineup of shows for you to enjoy (sorry ... couldn't resist!).
As we say goodbye to September and hello to October (and all the Halloween trimmings in the stores that go with it!) - we also say hello to a number of shows that have started, or soon will start, their production runs here on the California Central Coast, along with a couple whose runs will soon come to a close.
