FSPA Alum Nadine Malouf Performs with LES MISERABLES at 2013 Academy Awards

Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) alumna Nadine Malouf was caught up in the fanfare surrounding Cameron Mackintosh and Tom Hooper's film adaptation of Les Miserables when she received the invitation of a lifetime to perform alongside Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and other principals from the film at the 85th annual Academy Awards on February 24 in Los Angeles.

RECAP: A Predictable DANCING Elimination

For a post-prom extravaganza, this week's elimination was totally lacking in the drama department. No one cried, no one expounded upon the desperate struggles of learning to ballroom dance. Nobody even seemed remotely stressed out about getting the axe. Talk about a letdown!

NPR Humorist and Author David Sedaris Returns to ASU Gammage, 4/25

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present a reading and book signing by NPR humorist and best-selling author David Sedaris on Thursday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. at ASU Gammage in Tempe. Sedaris' appearance coincides with the April 23 release of his newest collection of essays titled Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls.

CCM Chair of Drama Richard E. Hess Receives Fulbright Scholar Award

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is delighted to report that Drama Department Chair Richard E. Hess has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to teach and research at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya during the 2013-14 academic year.

Transport Group to Present THE MEMORY SHOW, Starring Leslie Kritzer and Catherine Cox, Beginning 4/16

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that the New York premiere of a new musical, The Memory Show, book and lyrics by Sara Cooper; music by Zach Redler; directed by Joe Calarco, will begin performances Tuesday, April 16, at 7pm at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project, at 229 West 42nd Street. The Memory Show features Catherine Cox and Leslie Kritzer. Opening night is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 at 7pm.

Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Announces 2013-14 Season

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra announces the highly anticipated inaugural season of Louis Langrée, the Orchestra's 13th Music Director. Mr. Langrée will take up the baton at historic Music Hall for six of 20 thrilling subscription concert weekends for the 118 year-old Orchestra. The season lineup honors the CSO's rich traditions of presenting classic orchestral repertoire and exploring new musical territory. Groundbreaking collaborations and a diverse array of repertoire set the stage for a vibrant new beginning for the CSO and Mr. Langrée, drawn together by a passion and vision to transform the live concert experience and create inspiring performances. The 2013-14 season is packed with over 67 works of music through the Masterworks, Ascent and Boundless series, and includes two world premiere commissions and visits from four acclaimed composers.

LUCKY GUY Box Office Opens Tomorrow, Jan 25

The Broadhurst Theatre box office opens tomorrow, Friday, January 25 at 10:00 AM for LUCKY GUY, starring two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks, in the final work by three-time Academy Award-nominee Nora Ephron and directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe. The Broadhurst Theatre is located at 235 West 44th Street. The production will play a strictly limited engagement. Opening night is Monday, April 1. Previews begin Friday, March 1.

Bidding Underway For New York City Opera Online Warehouse Auction; Closes January 30th

Ohio High School Drama Teacher Officially Resigns Over Production of LEGALLY BLONDE

Ohio's Loveland High School drama director Sonja Hansen has officially resigned after putting on a production of Legally Blonde, Cincinnati.com reports. After 'undisclosed complaints' were submitted about the adult themes and dialogue featured in Legally Blonde, as well as a prior production of the musical Grease, Hansen faced pressure to resign or be fired.
