The Lyric Theatre on N. La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles concludes its 2011 season of musicals with the world premiere of iGhost, book by Doug Haverty, music by Adryan Russ, and lyrics by Russ and Haverty. Directed by Jules Aaron, performances begin on May 13, and opening night is set for Friday, May 20 at 8:00. The limited run will continue through June 18.

If you enjoy the flavor of an intelligently written literary work translated skillfully into a stage musical, like The Secret Garden or more recently The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, iGhost will simultaneously stimulate your mind and tug at your heart, especially if you're a hopeless romantic.This production now onstage @ the Lyric Theatre in Hollywood is not without flaws, but is certainly engaging with some beautifully written tunes and a mostly outstanding cast.

The Lyric Theatre on N. La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, Dorrie Braun, Founder and Executive Director, has announced the world premiere of iGhost, a new musical with book by Doug Haverty, music by Adryan Russ, and lyrics by Adryan Russ and Doug Haverty, replacing the previously announced Dear World.

Last mounted by Group rep in 2008, Daniel Sullivan's intelligent and very funny Inspecting Carol is a farcical look at a production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol by a regional theatre, in this case the fictional Soap Box Playhouse. Group rep's current superb cast make their second production of it a worthy view.

Every once in awhile a new musical comes along that feels truly original. Theatre West is mounting what looks to be just such a show this month with Sally Spectre The Musical, A Children's Horror Story for Adults.

The 2009 Festival of New American Musicals, a four-month musical theatre festival, will be held in April through July, 2009, throughout Southern California. Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are the Executive Producers of the second annual Festival.

Among others. She's also one of the few songwriters to have a hit Broadway show. Her classic musical The BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS entertained Broadway audiences for almost five years, received a Grammy nomination for its cast album, and became a popular film starring Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton. Dolly's recording of Carol's song 'Hard Candy Christmas' won an ASCAP Most Performed Country Song Award, and the film generated an ACADEMY AWARD nomination for Charles Durning, singing 'The Sidestep' as the slippery Governor of Texas.
