Drag artist Varla Jean Merman's new show, WONDER MERMAN, pays tribute to inspirational women throughout history, both real and fictional. The National Comedy Center is proud to announce the acquisition of an expansive archive chronicling the nine-decade career of pioneering comedienne Rose Marie, who passed away at the age of 94 in December 2017.

Award-winning singer/songwriter Nellie McKaywill make her Feinstein's at the Nikko debut on Friday, June 1 at 8 p.m. to celebrate the release of her 7th album, "Sister Orchid." Conjuring the image of a lonely all-night truck stop along Highway 1 on the California coast, all but lost in the fog that comes creeping along the shoreline, "Sister Orchid" speaks of the night, the outsider, the plaintive wail of those lost at sea. "Sister Orchid" was conceived in solitude, executed in darkness.

After two successful engagements in NYC, Sarah Boone will light up the stage at Upstairs at Vitello's Supper Club on May 16 with the West Coast Premiere of her new show paying homage to the fair-haired leading ladies of classic film musicals. Bristol Riverside Theatre ends its mainstage season triumphantly with the farcical period-piece musical Triumph of Love, based on the play by Marivaux, with book by James Magruder, music by Jeffrey Stock, and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead on May 1-20. Directed by Keith Baker, music directed by Douglass Lutz, and choreographed by Stephen Casey, the ensemble cast features Jake Delaney, Joy Franz, Adam Hoyak, Alex Keiper, Rebecca Robbins, Danny Rutigliano, and Carl Wallnau.

Theater League's national tour of 'A Chorus Line' features a stellar cast, fabulous singing and dancing, but above all, the rock solid directing by Baayork Lee, the original Connie, who has ensured that Michael Bennett's original conception from over 40 years ago remains the same as he intended, as if Lee were encasing the show in amber.

A constellation of stars has gathered in Molly Lajoie's divinely directed production of A CHORUS LINE. (Theater Works' latest offering of the 2017-2018 Season, running through March 4th.) Lajoie, who enjoys a notable track record as choreographer and dancer, has literally and dramatically pulled the words out of the song (One) and, with style and verve, created her own singular sensation revolving around a thrilling combination of performers.

Carol Harrison is probably best known for playing Louise Raymond in EastEnders. Her other screen work includes Brushstrokes, Get Back and London's Burning. Carol also works regularly in the theatre and has written, directed, produced the musical All or Nothing, which she also stars in. After three hugely successful tours, the show lands in the West End for the first time, this February.

At the end of 2017, the Everyman refreshed their artistic policy to better reflect the work they had been doing, and the vision for where they were headed. The theatre's 2018 programme of events, announced today, encapsulates those ideas perfectly:

Singer-songwriter Nellie McKay will perform on Friday, February 23 at 8PM in the Spotlight Caf at the Capitol Center for the Arts. McKay puts her spin on classics by artists ranging from Steve Miller to Cole Porter and Doris Day to the Beatles and Frank Zappa. Her original songs touch on subjects as far-ranging as her beloved dog to political and environmental issues.

Even if it were just for its history lesson about the lavender scare of the '50s-- the witch hunt and the mass firings of gay men and women from the federal government during the McCarthy era--FELLOW TRAVELERS by composer Gregory Spears and librettist Greg Pierce would be well worth seeing. But there's so much more to the opera, which had its local debut at the New York PROTOTYPE 2018 this past weekend, directed by Kevin Newbury, at the Gerald Lynch Theatre--including some of the most gorgeous opera music in recent memory.
