The four-member cast features Donna Bullock (Ragtime, 'Against the Grain') as Natalie, Scott Drummond (Hamlet, 'All My Children') as Mark, Daniel Oreskes (Billy Elliot, The Miracle Worker) as Elliot, and Michael T. 70's nostalgia is no slouch market. But I couldn't help feeling like Platinum (the newly revised 1978 musical) at the Fringe didn't really capitalize on that.

1959 was a heck of a good year for Broadway overtures.  The majestic trumpet fanfare and lowdown bump and grind of Gypsy's is generally regarded as the best in musical theatre, but there was also the rousingly rhythmic curtain-raiser to Fiorello! and, my personal favorite, Philip J. Lang's beautiful interpretation of Bob Merrill's music for Take Me Along, which touches on so many moods of the show while continually building the toe-tapping climax of The catchy title tune.

Two performances of an invitation-only industry reading of the new musical drama, Wallenberg, were presented at the Hilton Theatre Studios in Manhattan on May 7 and 8.

Directed by Sandy Shinner, Flyovers is presented in New York by Artistic New Directions, Jeff Landsman and 78th Street Theatre Lab, where Mr. Sweet's acclaimed play Bluff was produced in 2006.

The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd St.) announced today, St.Patrick's Day, that it will extend it's run of Joseph Stein and Robert Russell's unabashedly romantic, Take Me Along, (based on Eugene O'Neill's AH, WILDERNESS until May 4, 2008
