THE MOTHERF**KER WITH THE HAT by Stephen Adly Guirgis will make its world premiere on Broadway starring Bobby Cannavale, Chris Rock, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Annabella Sciorra and Yul Vázquez. Directed by Anna D. Shapiro, the production will open on Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street, New York City).
Today, a spokesperson for the production has announced that The strictly limited 14-week engagement will begin previews on March 15, 2010 one week earlier than originally announced date of March 22. Opening night remains scheduled for April 11, 2010.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, RAY CHARLES LIVE! producer Stuart Benjamin is suing his primary investor, Maurice Grant, for fraud, and is demanding $20 million in damages. Grant reportedly 'promised him $9 million in several installments to get Ray Charles Live! to Broadway'. Grant's first payment of $150,000 never cleared, and he never received a $2 million payment from February.

Sean Hayes will not perform at the Tuesday, November 23, 2010 performance of PROMISES, PROMISES due to a sinus infection. He also did not perform at the matinee on Sunday, November 21. In a statement, Hayes said 'I wish I never had to miss a show. I'd sleep on the stage if the doorman didn't kick me out. I made it all the way to 271 performances but my doctor tells me that singing with a sinus infection just won't work, which kills my dream of never missing a performance for the whole run of Promises. I'm at home resting and hope to be back onstage tomorrow.'

The New York Times is reporting that at last night's evening performance of PROMISES, PROMISES, star Kristin Chenoweth was reportedly feeling 'dizzy' and missed the show's curtain call. An ambulance was called for the star (said to be a standard procedure) and she was diagnosed with mild dehydration. The show's reps tell the Times that she will miss today's matinee, but is expected back in the show tonight.

As BroadwayWorld reported last night, according to the NY Times, the Broadway run of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark was rumored to be postponed once again; this time, because of safety issues. inspectors from The New York Department of Labor visited the Foxwoods Theatre to take a look at the flying devices and methods being used. Because they saw only some of the dozens of aerial stunts in the show, delays in the opening are likely. If the Department of Labor approves of the rest of the stunts in the next 10 days, then performances will begin on November 14.
