Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for the Globe's 2010 Shakespeare Festival performed in repertory in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.

The Roman Bath, the classic comedy by Stanislav Stratiev, will have its UK première at the Arcola Theatre in a new version by Justin Butcher, from Wednesday 28 April to Saturday 15 May 2010. The press night is on Monday 3 May at 7.00pm.

The Royal Court Theatre launches Theatre Local today (Tuesday February 2nd), presenting a season of work in a disused shop at the Elephant and Castle shopping centre over a six-month period.

The Royal Court Theatre's autumn season will focus on British playwriting talent, with new plays from Mike Bartlett, Tim Crouch, Lucy Prebble and Michael Wynne, tackling subjects as diverse as sexuality, abuse, authorship, financial scandal and the disappointed hopes of the Affluenza generation.

The Royal Court Theatre led the way in yesterday's Evening Standard Awards, taking the gong in four out of the eight categories, Best Actor, Best Play, Best Director and Most Promising Playwright.

Full casting has been announced for the Royal Court's JOHN MORTIMER AT THE COURT...AND LATER AT THE BAR. The cast will include Broadway stars Jeremy Irons, Alan Rickman, and Harriet Walter. Further casting includes Sinead Cusack, Joanna David, Edward Fox, Tom Hollander, Richard Johnson, Emily Mortimer, Alessandro Nivola, and Dominic West. The evening will be curated by Stephen Jeffreys and Nina Raine will direct. The evening will take place November 15th.

Today, 26 October 2009, Digital Theatre announce their first high definition downloadable theatre productions available from their website using their specially developed Theatre Player which is compatible with all major browsers and operating systems.

According to a report in Variety, a new U.K. company, Digital Theater, will be responsible for transferring productions from from prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company, Almeida, Royal Court Theater, English Touring Theater and the Young Vic to internet downloads.

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust has announced that that playwrights Bruce Norris, Tarell Alvin McCraney and David Adjmi are the first recipients of the Steinberg Playwright Award.

Sean Mathias will direct Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot which is his first production as Artistic Director of the 2009 Theatre Royal Haymarket Company. Waiting for Godot will tour the UK prior to its opening in London in April.

The National Arts Club announced the recipients of its Kesselring Fellowship (formerly the Kesselring Award) supporting the work of extraordinary playwrights who have yet to achieve national recognition. An industry panel of writers, literary managers, actors, producers and directors and critics evaluated twenty-five finalists. In a rare move based on extraordinary merit, the 2009 panel and the National Arts Club choose to give out two lead awards rather than one. These two playwrights, Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghad Zoo, upcoming at the Mark Taper Forum) and David Adjmi (Stunning, upcoming at Lincoln Center 3) were awarded Kesselring Fellowships. Playwrights Jenny Schwartz and Tarrel Alvin McCraney were also named as Kesselring Honorees

Seven Jewish Children - A Play for Gaza by Caryl Churchill will receive a limited run at the Royal Court Theatre, beginning on 6 February. Written in response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and examining the history of Israel, the play will be performed for free in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs, with a collection taken afterwards for the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP): Emergency Appeal for the People of Gaza. It will be directed by Dominic Cooke, Artistic Director of the Royal Court. With a running time of around 10 minutes, the short play will be performed at 9pm each night after the scheduled 7.30pm performance of The Stone by Marius von Mayenburg. Tickets will be available from the Royal Court box office (not online) from Monday 26 January. Although there will be no official Press Night, the production will be open to the press from 10 February onwards. The script will be available to download for free from 11 February from the websites of the Royal Court Theatre, Caryl Churchill's publisher Nick Hern Books and her agents Casarotto Ramsay Ltd. There will be no charge for performance rights, on the condition that a collection is made for MAP. Casting is still to be confirmed.

A powerful figure in British television for more than three decades, he would go on to become special advisor to Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2001.
