Newsies, the Tony Award-winning "Critics' Pick" about to enter its third year on Broadway, welcomes Liana Hunt to the role of the show's leading lady Katherine Plumber, beginning Monday, February 3rd. Kara Lindsay, who created the role, will play her final performance this Sunday, February 2nd.

Adam Jacobs, star of Disney's upcoming Aladdin, and his wife of seven years, actress Kelly Jacobs, just announced the birth of twin boys Jack Loren Jacobs and Alex Gregory Jacobs. The twins were born early Monday morning, January 27, after a 25-hour labor, weighing in at 5 lbs, 12 oz and 4 lbs, 11 oz, respectively. Scroll down for a photo of the happy family!

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents the national tour of Peter and the Starcatcher, the five-time Tony Award winning musical play written by Tony Award nominee Rick Elice and directed by Tony Award?winner Roger Rees and Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers, from today, January 28 to February 16, 2014 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. Press opening night is Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

Disney's HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME will have its U.S. premiere as part of La Jolla Playhouse's 2014-15 season.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, the five-time Tony Award-winning musical play written by Tony Award® nominee Rick Elice and directed by Tony Award winner Roger Rees and Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers, comes to Wharton Center as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center series. In celebration of ten years of creating and licensing shows for young performers, Disney Theatrical Productions announced today that it is adding school versions of The Lion King to Music Theatre International's (MTI) Broadway Junior Collection planned for distribution in January 2015. The Lion King JR. (a 60-minute musical for middle-school students) and The Lion King KIDS (a 30-minute musical for elementary-school students) will be licensed exclusively to accredited elementary and middle schools. Each school license will include a full array of companion materials to aid teachers and students in learning about stagecraft and performance. This opportunity marks the first time any long-running hit musical has released a specially-created version for elementary and middle school students while the original show was still playing on Broadway.

Disney Theatrical Productions will hold an open call audition for male dancers for both the Broadway and upcoming North American touring productions of Newsies, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical smash, in Las Vegas on Friday, January 31 at 4pm at the Alexis Park Resort Hotel (375 East Harmon Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89169). This audition will be first come, first serve and is for technically-trained Equity and non-Equity male dancers between 16 - 22 years old of all ethnicities who can tap and sing well.

Disney's THE LION KING continues to reign across North America with a sold-out engagement in Los Angeles, which concluded on Sunday, January 12 at The Hollywood Pantages. The triumphant eight-week return grossed over $15.2 million at the box office and entertained more than 172,000 patrons during 66 performances. The award-winning musical returned to Los Angeles following an eight-week sold-out run in 2006.
