The New York Musical Theatre Festival Developmental Reading Series presents The Sugar Hill Sisters, a new musical with book and lyrics by the Lambda and Stonewall Award-winning Bil Wright and music by Joseph-Vernon Banks (Girlfriends!). The reading will be directed by Jade King Carroll (Assoc. director of Broadway's current revival of A Streetcar Named Desire) with music direction by GLAAD Award nominee Dionne McClain-Freeney Kasey Ostopchuck (4000 Miles) will be stage managing.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presented a special preview of the 2011 Festival selections, featuring Ennio: The Living Paper Cartoon, F*cking Hipsters, Ghostlight, Greenwood, Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, The Kid Who Would Be Pope, Kiki Baby, Outlaws, and This One Girl's Story. The NYMF runs from September 26th - October 16th in theatres around Manhattan. BroadwayWorld was there for the event and brings you a peek backstage at the presentation.

A full breakdown of these seven new musicals follows. The rest of this season's programming, including additional full productions and special events, will be announced in the coming weeks. GAYFEST NYC, Inc., (Bruce Robert Harris and Jack W. Batman, Producers), the country's premier producer of new LGBT-themed plays, announces its Fourth Annual Festival, a five-week event filled with new theatre works spotlighting gay issues. This year, the Festival will include four fully-staged productions featuring professional actors, talk-backs with the authors of the Festival plays, appearances by celebrated members of the LGBT community, plus special events. All proceeds from GAYFEST NYC benefit the Harvey Milk High School. Performances are scheduled from May 6 - June 6, 2010 at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex (312 West 36th Street). Casting will be announced in April.
