LaToya Gardner adds yet another theatrical conquest to her already impressive resume: Sister Mary Clarence/Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act, the musical theater version of the Whoopi Goldberg film that has delighted audiences since its debut in 1992, inspiring one sequel (with maybe another on the way) in the process.

Chicagoland audiences will rejoice with The Marriott Theatre's first mainstage production of their 2016 Subscription Season, the heavenly Broadway musical comedy, SISTER ACT, previewing February 10, opening February 17 and running through April 3 at 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire.  Featuring a sparkling score by Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winner Alan Menken, with lyrics by Grammy Award-winner Glenn Slater, the hilarious and joyful musical is based on the hit Whoopi Goldberg film of the same name. Director Don Stephenson (Titanic at Lincoln Center, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and Lend Me A Tenor at Paper Mill Playhouse, Guys And Dolls at Goodspeed Opera House) makes his Marriott Theatre directorial debut with the five-time Tony-nominated musical, featuring choreography by Melissa Zaremba (Marriott's La Cage aux Folles) and musical direction by Jeff Award-winner Doug Peck (Marriott's Dreamgirls and Fiddler on the Roof).

Jamie Wilson is delighted to announce that Alexandra Burke will star as 'Deloris Van Cartier' in the national tour of Curve's all new production of the hit musical comedy SISTER ACT, directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood with musical supervision and arrangements by Tony award-winning Sarah Travis. A frantic farce opens the 43rd Season at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Now on stage is Ray Cooney's hilarious comedy Run for Your Wife, with performances through Feb. 7.

Even though Whoopi Goldberg was the lead producer of SISTER ACT on Broadway, the "Divine Musical" raising the roof at the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Mass. is not the SISTER ACT of Whoopi Goldberg's 1992 hit movie. Yes, the sassy attitude and jubilant spirit of the nightclub singer taking involuntary refuge in a cloistered convent are still intact, but the revised book by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner and original score by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater make this jaunty screen-to-stage adaptation an all new joy to behold.

SISTER ACT will begin tonight, November 3, and plays thru Sunday, November 15. Press/Opening Night is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4 at 7:30 pm.

'[Thank you] to an incredible cast of British and American actors who make the Atlantic look like a little creek you can just kind of pop across,' said Dame Helen Mirren upon receiving her 2015 Tony Award. The stage and screen star reprised her critically-acclaimed performance in THE AUDIENCE after a West End run in 2013, and she was just one of many to 'pop across' an ocean for a stab at Broadway.  An unprecedented amount of British talent took over Broadway last year, bringing us such productions as THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, WOLF HALL: PARTS 1 & 2, and SKYLIGHT.   It doesn't seem like the trend is ending anytime soon. Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre's 2016 Season is now available to the public.
