On Friday, June 18, 2010, the Los Angeles Philharmonic was awarded the Morton Gould Award for Innovative Programming as part of the 2009-2010 ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming presented at the League of American Orchestra's 65th National Conference in Atlanta, GA.

The official launch of the 89th Hollywood Bowl season, the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and Opening Night Concert, brought stars and talent to the iconic venue, Friday, June 18, at 8:30 p.m. This year's inductees - pop culture icon Donna Summer, the legendary Carpenters (accepted by Richard Carpenter) and world-renowned pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet - as well as presenters multiple Grammy-winning musician, composer and producer Herb Alpert, acclaimed music producer David Foster, film and television actress Victoria Tennant, and producer, choreographer and television personality Nigel Lythgoe - made for a memorable evening.
LA Philharmonic's Ernest Fleischmann Passes Away At 85

It is with deep regret and sadness that the Los Angeles Philharmonic must announce the passing of our beloved friend and colleague Ernest Fleischmann. Ernest died surrounded by his family last evening, Sunday June 13, in his Los Angeles home after a long illness at the age of 85.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic, in partnership with El Sistema USA and the League of American Orchestras, presents a three-day symposium, Composing Change: YOLA and the El Sistema Movement. The symposium, which takes place May 6-8, 2010 at EXPO Center and Walt Disney Concert Hall, will focus on a global perspective on El Sistema-influenced programs taking root beyond the borders of Venezuela, utilizing the YOLA Expo Center Youth Orchestra Program and one of the ultimate icons of El Sistema, Gustavo Dudamel, as the case study. The three-day event features a visit to the Expo Center, roundtable discussions, an invitational rehearsal with the YOLA Expo Center Youth Orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and a conversation between Gustavo Dudamel and LA Phil President & CEO Deborah Borda.

Los Angeles Philharmonic Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and President and CEO Deborah Borda today announced the 2010/11 season of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Dudamel and the LA Phil move into the second season of their partnership, one which allows for a greatly expanded presence for Dudamel in Los Angeles.

On September 24, 2009, the LA Phil launches a microsite celebrating the arrival of incoming Music Director Gustavo Dudamel. Introducing audiences worldwide to Gustavo in new and engaging ways, the comprehensive microsite, located at http://www.laphil.com/gustavo, features videos such as Gustavo's first rehearsal with the YOLA Expo Center Youth Orchestra, the LA Phil's video tribute 'Welcome Gustavo,' and the press conferences unveiling Gustavo's inaugural season and appointment as 11th Music Director of the LA Phil. Visitors can also take a multimedia journey through Gustavo's life with tiling photographs, video and biographical text. The latest Gustavo-related news and newly recorded audio and video content will be added to the microsite as Gustavo's exciting inaugural season progresses.
