Phamaly Theatre Company Presents THE FOREIGNER, 1/17-2/2

Join Phamaly Theatre Company for the "charmin' 'n side-splittin' comedy," The Foreigner, January 17 - February 2 at the Aurora Fox Arts Center and February 22 - 24 at the Arvada Center for Arts & Humanities.

Adam Kantor & Betsy Wolfe to Lead THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Second Stage; Opens April 2!

ADAM KANTOR (Rent) and BETSY WOLFE (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) will co-star in the highly anticipated revival of JASON ROBERT BROWN's musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Second Stage Theatre. The beloved two-character musical, which has received more than 500 regional productions and 3,000 performances around the world, is returning to New York City after eleven years in an all-new staging directed by Mr. Brown. THE LAST FIVE YEARS will begin previews on Thursday, March 7 at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd street). Opening night is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2 at 7pm.

2012 TONY AWARDS Among Writers Guild of America Nominations

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in television, news, radio, promotional writing, and graphic animation during the 2012 season. The winners will be honored at the 2013 Writers Guild Awards on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.

BWW Reviews: The Rep's Hilarious Production of THE FOREIGNER

Before his untimely death in a plane crash in the mid-1980's, playwright Larry Shue had penned two community theatre staples, The Nerd and THE FOREIGNER. While I'm not a big fan of the former, the latter is a fast-paced farce brimming with humor that builds to a hilariously satisfying climax. The current production by the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is nicely mounted and features a fine cast and direction that takes full advantage of the comic opportunities presented.

Jason Robert Brown to Direct THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Second Stage in Spring 2013

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has just announced that Jason Robert Brown's musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS has been added to the company's upcoming 2012-2013 season. The musical, which has not been seen in New York City since its brief off-Broadway run over ten years ago, will be directed by Mr. Brown.

STAGE TUBE: Miss SMASH's 'Previews?' Watch It Here!

On last night's episode of SMASH, viewers finally got their first look at 'Bombshell,' the Marilyn Monroe musical at the heart of NBC's new musical drama. The show opened for a test run in Boston. In the episode entitled 'Previews', the writing team of Tom (Christian Borle) and Julia (Debra Messing) scrambled to fix the show when the first preview fell short, and Frank (Brian d'Arcy James) had to adjust to the unwelcome return of Michael Swift (Will Chase) to his life. Dev (Raza Jaffrey) seeked reconciliation with Karen (Katharine McPhee), but explosive information about Ivy (Megan Hilty) lurked just beneath the surface.
