The Wall Street Journal says, 'I laughed so hard that I was sore the next day...By wedding [Ives'] verbal prestidigitation to Corneille's mistaken-identity plot, Mr. Ives has come up with a play in which the laughs flow freely and joyously.'
Playing on Air, which presents readings of short plays by prominent, contemporary American playwrights for a national audience via public radio and the Internet, inaugurates a new initiative next month. Raleigh Little Theatre (RLT) has announced the theme of its 2014-15 season. 'A Season of Love,' approaches the topic of love from a variety of angles. Whether it's love of one's family and a teenage romance in Hairspray, the love between a child and a toy in The Velveteen Rabbit, or a historical novel colliding with a modern tale in Venus In Fur, the theme offers many compelling iterations for audiences of all ages. RLT also plans to name a new artistic director this spring, the culmination of a nation-wide search near completion. In February 2015, the artistic director will play an integral part in the a comedy in the Sutton Series, plays that focus on classic titles for general audiences.
