Asolo Repertory Theatre is looking for the greatest star that can Belt it Like Brice for a chance to win a VIP evening on the town and at Asolo Rep. Fanny Brice, America's Funny Girl will open May 23, 2012 and run until June 17, 2012. Previews begin May 20. Fanny Brice, America's Funny Girl is a reworking of Maltz Jupiter Theatre's 2009 hit production Fanny Brice: The Real Funny Girl. Writer and Director David H. Bell modified the script and is bringing Asolo Rep the most inspiring version yet. TCPalm raved, "Marya Grandy may not be the real Fanny Brice…but she just might be a new version of Ethel Merman. That's with a little Patti LuPone and the emotional singing delivery al a Judy Garland tossed in for good measure". WJTW FM said "what really brought the audience to its feet for a standing ovation however was the finale…it doesn't get any better than that."

The Marriott Theatre (10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire) presents HERO, a new musical written by Aaron Thielen with music and lyrics by Michael Mahler, previewing June 20, opening June 27 at 8 p.m. and running through August 19, 2012. Eleven-time Jeff award-winner David H. Bell directs and choreographs. Erich Bergen (JERSEY BOYS, Nat'l Tour) stars as Hero Batowski.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today that its celebrated premiere comedy Murder for Two-A Killer Musical will be extended into its sixth month through November 27, 2011, Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare. Nominated for four Joseph Jefferson Awards, including Best New Work-Musical or Revue, this 90-minute Agatha Christie-like whodunit musical comes with a surprising twist: one actor plays the inspector, the other plays all 10 suspects, and both play the piano. Created by Joe Kinosian (music/book) and Kellen Blair (lyrics/book), Murder for Two-A Killer Musical currently features Kinosian as the slew of hilarious would-be criminals. Beginning on October 19, Adam Overett will take over for Alan Schmuckler in the role of Officer Marcus Moscowicz.
