The Grammy Museum To Honor Berry Gordy And Smokey Robinson

Motown founder Berry Gordy and GRAMMY winner Smokey Robinson will be honored with The GRAMMY Museum's first-ever Architects of Sound Award, it was announced today by Bob Santelli, executive director of the Museum. Proceeds from the inaugural GRAMMY Museum benefit gala dinner and concert — to be held on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Club Nokia in Los Angeles — will provide essential support for the Museum, an educational and interactive museum dedicated to engaging both children and adults in the power of music through dynamic exhibits, educational programs, live performances and more. The event will be hosted by music industry veteran and television personality Randy Jackson.

Susan Lacy, creator and executive producer of the acclaimed WNET series 'American Masters,' shown on PBS nationwide, has signed a multi-year deal to produce and direct documentaries for HBO, it was announced today by Sheila Nevins, president, HBO Documentary Films.

Little Shop of Horrors, with Book and Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Music by Alan Menken, Based on the film by Roger Corman, Screen play by Charles Griffith and originally produced by the WPA Theatre (Klye Renick, Producing Director), as well as the Orpheum Theatre, New York City by the WPA Theatre, David Geffen, Cameron Mackintosh and the Shubert Organization, will be directed by Adam Ewing with musical direction by Anne Britt at the Gallery Theater.

Stage industry veteran Andy Perez has been ap pointed press director of the Geffen Playhouse. Perez oversees publicity, social media, and external communication for one of the area's most known regional theaters. Perez was formerly was tour publicist for Cavalia, the Montreal based touring production, West Coast regional public relations manager for Feld Entertainment, Inc., and a publicist for Radio City Entertainment leading publicity campaigns for five consecutively running productions of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Branson, and Myrtle Beach.

Jackson Browne returns to Tanglewood for the first time in 15 years, tonight, July 4 at 7 p.m. to perform in the Shed, with fireworks following the concert. Jackson Browne last performed at Tanglewood with Bonnie Raitt on August 24, 1998. He made his first Tanglewood appearance on July 31, 1973. Jackson will be joined on this show by special guest opener Sara Watkins from the band Nickel Creek.

The Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF) announced today confirmed speakers added to the 2013 Fall Festival, which will explore the theme of 'Animal: What makes us human?' Speakers announced include Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler), author of A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS; Jonathan Safran Foer, author of EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED, EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE, and EATING ANIMALS; Anne Carson, poet and fiction writer; Ana Maria Martinez, Latin Grammy Award-winning soprano; Mark Dion, pioneering conceptual artist; Tracey L. Meares, Yale Law Professor and authority on crime prevention and community capacity building; Barbara Natterson-Horowitz and Kathryn Bowers, authors of ZOOBIQUITY: THE ASTONISHING CONNECTION BETWEEN HUMAN AND ANIMAL HEALTH; and Craig Packer, leading expert on African wildlife and founder of the Serengeti Lion Project.
