Steep Theatre Company's 13th Season will begin in grand fashion on October 3rd with the North American Premiere of Motortown by Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens. The production will be directed by Steep Artistic Associate and two-time Jeff Nominated director Robin Witt. The Stephens-Witt playwright-director tandem has proven a winner in the past at Steep, resulting in two of the more memorable shows in recent Chicago theater history: Harper Regan and Pornography. Motortown will be the first Simon Stephens production in Chicago since he received the 2013 Olivier Award for Best New Play for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night. The production is also Ms. Witt's first Steep offering since her 2012 hit production of Dennis Kelly's Love and Money.

Mr. Holman's body of work has served as an inspiration to many of today's most exciting playwrights, including Steep favorites Simon Stephens (Harper Regan, Pornography) and David Eldridge (Festen, Under the Blue Sky). Steep brings Mr. Holman's seminal work, Making Noise Quietly, to the Chicago stage for the first time in 23 years. Erica Weiss, Associate Artistic Director of Route 66 Theatre Company and director of their 2011 hit Twist of Water, will be making her Steep directing debut.
Steep Theatre will be transferring their hit show Moment to Chicago's Theater Wit for a six week extension of the previously sold-out production. This will be the second extension of the show.
Brian Friel's adaptation of Ibsen's seminal work, Hedda Gabler, will open at The Old Vic tonight, 12 September. Directed by Anna Mackmin, this major new production will star Olivier award-winning actress Sheridan Smith in the title role with Darrell D'Silva as Judge Brack, Buffy Davis as Bertha, Daniel Lapaine as Eilert Loevborg, Anne Reid as Juliana Tesman, Adrian Scarborough as George Tesman, and Fenella Woolgar as Thea Elvsted.
